Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd. But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie....

I ordered this book the minute it was available and I was not disappointed! Harlan Coben is one of my favorite authors and this is at the top of my list! The opening scene was strange and very typical of Coben's writing. I could not stop listening and trying so hard to figure out the very convoluted angle of the plot. It does stop and make you wonder who can you trust? I was not disappointed in the ending, I was disappointed that it was ending!

When I read the review, I was so very excited! My audible experience had been "dry' for a long time, and I thought that this would be the end of the drought. At first, I thought that Dani's remarks about life & situations were interesting and much the way I would think about things. Little did I know, that the entire book would be full of these remarks. There was no build-up and certainly the end was just as blah! What a waste of time. I will definately not look for this author again.

When a finely wrought silver sleigh figurine turns up in her thrift shop, Lori Shepherd recognizes it instantly. It was the object that mesmerized the sweet but very poor nine-year-old Daisy Pickering at Sproggton Manor, the bizarre Jacobean house-turned-museum Lori recently visited with her twin sons. Hoping to avoid any real commotion, Lori decides to speak with the museum curator, who turns out to be oddly uninterested in the theft. But there’s not much that could be done anyway for the Pickerings seem to have come into some money and moved to Australia.

The story was cute. I have always been an Aunt Dimity fan, but I am NO FAN of this narrator. The accents were horrible, the pace slow and each word was sounded out. It was just like listening to my daughter read from her 3rd grade reading books! Nails on a blackboard type pain! I will READ another Aunt Dimity, but never listen to this narrator again!

I listened to four hours of this eighteen hour book and then closed it for good. Everyone that I trusted for "good books" told me that this was the best ever! They are usually right, but not this time! It seems that this was written by a silly teenager, making up a fantasy for herself. Who are these people? It was so unrealistic and fabricated that I cannot possible finish listening. Enough, I am going back to my murder mysteries!

I do not claim to be a writer by any stretch, but I know I could do better with this weak book. If this author is trying to depict the South, she is way off base. I stopped at chapter 3 , it was so pathetic.

Ridley Jones is trying to get on with her life when a seemingly mundane act - picking up a few envelopes of prints at a photo lab - puts her at the nexus of a global network of crime. The shadowy figure of a man appears in almost every picture she's taken in the last year, lurking just far enough away to make identification impossible. Now the FBI is at her door, some serious bad guys are following her every move, and the family she once loved and relied on is more distant than ever.

"Beautiful Lie" was farfetched. "Sliver of Truth" holds just a "sliver" of interest. The plot was weak, and unbelievable at best. That said, Ridley is such a spoiled brat, I could hardly listen to the entire book. I am now giving up on Lisa Unger.

In this simple, beautifully written book, David Michie opens the door to the core teachings of Tibetan Buddhism. With wry, self-deprecating humour, he shows us how he began to incorporate Buddhist practices into his daily life. He explains how he came to understand the difference between the temporary pleasures of ordinary life, and the profound sense of well-being and heart-felt serenity that comes from connecting with our inner nature.

This is a listen that literally changed my life! I have never said that about a book, movie or anything else in my world. David Michie really brought several points home to me. As a result of this fascinating book, I have started to study Buddism and appreciate this ancient practice. As a medical person, the study and practice of meditation is a remedy for stress, as well as overall good mindful living. Listen to this book once and then listen to it slower. I bought a hard copy for my husband, and he was hooked as well. When you listen to the book, pick a time that is quiet and non-stimulating to get the best result. Enjoy.

At first he resists the LAPD shrink, but finally recognizes that something is troubling him and has for a long time. In 1961, when Harry was 12, his mother, a prostitute, was brutally murdered with no one ever accused of the crime.

    Story

As always, Harry Bosch is predictable. That is, he is always in a strange jam, and always comes out looking good. With all the twists and turns of the story, it kept my interest going. The psychological lessons from the MD's perspective were true to form, and very realistic. I just cannot imagine all that negative karma in Harry's life, and he just did not completely collapse. However, at times, I felt like it was a little "over-the-top". The new girlfriend will most likely show up again, and I did not really care for her miseries. A nice happy, stable girlfriend with no baggage would be more to my liking. Especially with a character as "loaded with baggage" as Harry. Overall, I am looking forward to the next in the series!
