Sounded like it was written by Ann Coulter in the middle of a paranoid delusion. I still haven't decided if it was serious or satire. The details on supplies and equipment were excruciating and endless. The political diatribes were long winded and pointless. The characters were one dimensional. The author tried to add some political correctness by including a Jewish and Asian characters. This made the book seem less authentic, the author should have kept with the Right wing Christian, White supremacist theme. Still I enjoyed this look at a world and way of thinking I am so unfamiliar with and I think I may even have a better understanding of both Survivalist and right wing religious extremists. The narration was actually pretty good. Though whether intentional or not, the narrators voice acting made many of the characters sound like dim witted jocks, but it seemed to fit and worked for me.
The concept is great, the execution is just good. I was hoping for more but I would still recommend this for anyone looking for some fun escapist reading. Narration was very well done.
Good information on the role of exercise in improving many aspects of one's life. I found myself really motivated to exercise consistently.
A great mystery story that evolves into a good science fiction story. The narrator did a nice job with the characters. I couldn't wait to hear what going to happen next.
This is a well rounded and practical approach to reducing body fat and and improving one's health. It is not gimmicky, and there is no quick fix or other fad diet nonsense. The nutrition plan is reasonable and suitable for the long term. Venuto also allows for human nature and the occasional deviation from the plan for special occasions and celebrations. The beginner workouts can be done by people of most fitness levels and there is a steady increase in difficulty as fitness improves. I found the narration to be very well done and professional. The overall tone of the book is motivating. I believe that following this plan can change one's life. I am 55 years old, fat and being treated for heart disease.In the past 4 weeks I've lost 12 lbs and 3% body fat. My strength and endurance are steadily improving as is my mood and attitude. This book may well be the best investment I've ever made.
This was an excellent self help book. The ideas for improving willpower are practical, the rational is explained, and studies are cited. I found the narration to be very professional and the narrator easily held my attention.
This wasn't as much a program to help one learn to "Stick With Your Diet" as it was Kelley reading her masters thesis. There was nothing new and most of her material was just a rehash of ideas cited in the main stream media and on T.V. talk shows. More often than not her cited authorities were people like Dr Phil and Doctor Oz, which made it hard for me to take her seriously. She did a poor job of reading her book and had trouble pronouncing some of the words. Kelley may be a great motivator in person or one on one, but nothing in this Audible book would lead me to believe that.
Sadly, no one can teach willpower or perseverance in a book.
Not if you gave it to me.
It taught me how easy it is for an author to make a promise in a title and how hard it is to deliver on that promise in the text or performance.
