aah... British English... sooo aristocratic!
It was enjoyable enough
definitely, the wonderful accent! I could listen to Ms. Quirk reading a recipe book and still enjoy it!
Victorian romance with a twist
I really liked the first book, but I loved-loved-loved the second, although the cliff-hangers at the end are not really my thing.
I really enjoyed the love-triangle situation and I can't wait to see how it plays out.
All in all, very high expectations for Hunter's Trail - book 3.
I didn't think there would be much to take me by surprise regarding urban fantasy, but I was taken back, in a good way, by this new kind of character, the "null". Scarlett is indeed a nice addition to the world of paranormal and urban fantasy. The plot is good, the action is fast-paced and all the other characters are well-defined. Also, there is that damn nail-biting cliff-hanger in the end: how did THAT person manage to undergo THAT kind of transformation!?!
The switch between first-person and third-person narration actually made sense, too bad that Ms. McFadden didn't switch also when narrating: it took me some time to make sense of the story on the beginning of each chapter. On the plus side, she was better with keeping up with Jesse's Spanish accent throughout the story, which is better that in Susannah Sandlin's novels she narrated... Not my favourite story-telling person, but I've heard worse.
Overall, good start of a new paranormal series. Will be impatiently waiting for the sequel!
LOOOVE this particular depiction of the infamous character as portrayed by Jeaniene Frost! Especially happy since I found out that the story will actually be a trilogy! And I also loved Tavia Gilbert's performance, as usual! For the sake of the argument, however, please have Ms. Gilbert contact a speaker of Romanian (me, for example ;-)), to avoid misspronunciations of words such as "coacaze" or "Targoviste". I don't want to upset anybody, the performance is perfect such as is, it was just a thought... I think actors should do that kind of documentation for every part or book they act/narrate.
Again, wonderful British English, but this time seasoned with Scottish and bits of Cockney. Very entertaining!
As opposed to Firelight, there is much more action in this book, along with an array of interesting supernatural creatures, mistery and intrigue and the end is somewhat unexpected. Everything I could hope for in a book!
I very much liked Ian Northrup, although I didn't (probably should have) expect it from the first book. Daisy and I didn't click as much...
My expectations grow higher by the minute for this series. Can't wait for Winterblaze!
Wonderful book! Sexy, sassy and extremely humorous! I found myself laughing outloud in the middle of the street numerous times and it was kind of embarassing. Wonderful narration also! Lorelei King is a deep voice that none the less is able to differenciate among the various characters. Highly recommendable! I'm in the middle of
