  • The Drunkard's Walk: How Randomness Rules Our Lives

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 19 mins)

    • Narrated By Sean Pratt

    Story

In this irreverent and illuminating audiobook, acclaimed writer and scientist Leonard Mlodinow shows us how randomness, chance, and probability reveal a tremendous amount about our daily lives, and how we misunderstand the significance of everything from a casual conversation to a major financial setback. As a result, successes and failures in life are often attributed to clear and obvious causes, when in actuality they are more profoundly influenced by chance.

Joshua Kim says: "Very Very Smart"
"One of those rare excellent books"
    Overall

Only a few audiobooks are so good that I'll circle the block continuously at the end of a drive home, unwilling to end the "read" by parking in the driveway. This is one. The material is so good, so well read, and so germane to the current world that it should practically be required (and pleasurable) reading for all.

Bill Belichick's 31 years in the NFL have been marked by amazing success, most recently with the New England Patriots. In this groundbreaking new book, David Halberstam explores the nuances of both the game and the man behind it. He uncovers what makes Bill Belichick tick both on and off the field.

    V. Reggiannini says: "Well done..."
"More a hagiography than a biography"
    Overall

We all know Bill's an exceptional coach, but this uncritical, almost fawning, work doesn't illuminate at all. Not especially interesting, and not really well-read.

Here, Michael Palmer has created a cat-and-mouse game where one woman must confront a conspiracy of doctors to uncover an evil practice that touches every single person who ever has a medical test. With unforgettable characters and twists and betrayals that come from the most unlikely places, The Second Opinion will keep you guessing...and looking over your shoulder.

A User says: "great story line; unnecessary love affair"
    "Ridiculous, formulaic potboiler"
    Overall

This is one of those books which one completes, reluctantly, in the hope that it can't really remain as bad as it is - wrong. It can.
