This was a definite
Kind of like a Gone With The Wind type epic novel
Good representation of characters.
Liked Belle, Mama and Papa best for their will to carry on as decent human beings in spite of horrific treatment and circumstances.
Like I said, Lavinia, the main lady, was mostly spineless and her
Not telling every embarrassing detail about her family
Too much detail. I feel sorry for her family.
Didn't need the details about her stepson and husband's genitals among other gory specifics. She seems rather sleazy.
People were horrible
Don't know; first one.
If you liked Kitchen House or The Invention of Wings, you'll like this too.
It was hard to get through as the author was a TERRIBLE reader. She ruined her story with her dreadful performance.
Not with her reading it.
Great example of stick to what you're good at.
No; it was a great story, awful to think things like this happened and hope they will never happen like that in the future
Many good moments; many sad moments
They were both good with their character voices
No; it was good to take in pieces
Definitely well worth a listen
Sad but inspiring
There were many; liked the ending
Probably the end
Any of the main 3 women in the story
Really enjoyed it!
Good characters; although some of the outcome is predictable, it was definitely worth listening to it!
Good character development
Good performances by all
The story got too complicated and at some points it was impossible to keep up with who was who...also, it got so technical about half way through that it turned me off and I stopped listening.
Story of how music was made at that time
I enjoyed the story overall, but found him rather annoying...it seems as though he often mooched off of his women, always moving in with them and sponging. He also was such a sycophant to David Crosby, a man who by his own account, was a pig toward women and total egomaniac. Those parts were rather revolting to hear about, especially since he reads them like they were no big deal without seeing how disgusting they were.
It was interesting. The main character is annoying as it seems she views herself as a real rebel, street wise person; instead she seems to be an over indulged, spoiled brat with an uptown education. And although she occasionally takes responsibility, she also seems to blame the system for being too hard on people who do crimes like hers. I found her unlikeable in many ways but it was a good story.
Fascinating, interesting, excellent
Too many to pick from
Lots of them.
If you like music from the sixties and seventies and enjoy history, you will LOVE this.
