I listen to books on tape while driving 1.5 hours each way to work. This is probably the most enjoyable book I have read all year.

Since 1990, when Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time® burst on the world with its first book, The Eye of the World, listeners have been anticipating the final scenes of this extraordinary saga, which has sold over 40 million copies in over 32 languages. When Robert Jordan died in 2007, all feared that these concluding scenes would never be written. But working from notes and partials left by Jordan, established fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson stepped in to complete the masterwork.

When we first meet 14-year-old Susie Salmon, she is already in heaven. In the sweet, untroubled voice of a precocious teenage girl, Susie relates the awful events of her death and her own adjustment to the strange new place where she finds herself. With love, longing, and a growing understanding, Susie watches her family as they cope with their grief. This story of seemingly unbearable tragedy is transformed into a suspenseful and touching narrative about family, memory, love, heaven, and living.

"Authors should never narate their books"
    Overall

The content of the book may be very good, but I couldn't get past the narration. The author does her own book a disservice by reading it. She should have hired a professional reader who could have put some life into her characters. I stopped listening after the second chapter. I couldn't take it anymore.

Eerie, dreamlike, set in a world that is weirdly related to our own, The Gunslinger introduces Roland Deschain of Gilead, of In-World that was, as he pursues his enigmatic antagonist to the mountains that separate the desert from the Western Sea in the first volume of The Dark Tower series. Roland, the last gunslinger, is a solitary figure, perhaps accursed, who with a strange single-mindedness traverses an exhausted, almost timeless landscape of good and evil.

I have never read Stephen King before, so I was anxious to hear this one. BAD, BAD, BAD. I didn't get through the book and stopped after 3:30 hours. I haven't stopped a book in over two years of hearing books on tape. The story line is slow, the characters are not very interesting, and I found myself switching to the radio often because I was falling asleep at the wheel. This book did nothing to awaken my imagination and my only wish was for the book to end.

Witness her transformation as you enter a world where appearances are paramount, virginity is auctioned to the highest bidder, women beguile powerful men, and love is scorned as illusion.

I just couldn't get into this book. I drive to work for 3 hours and day, so I listen to a lot of books. The start was very slow and I didn't find it interesting enough to keep going.
