"Wow"
All I can say is Wow. Stephen Pressfield's books are always engrossing, but this one is absolutely riveting. Told from the perspective of Alexander the Great - you get amazing insight into the history of his rule and also into the possible persona of a great military leader. The book is intense, detailed, and a little disturbing, but forces you to really think about the psychology necessary to be a leader at Alexander's level.
"I Missed James Marsters"
I think I enjoyed the story and eventually got used to John Glover as the narrator, but I couldn't help but compare his performances to James Marters' and it just wasn't as good a performance. I did eventually get into the story, and it was the same good humor, mystery, and tension which Jim Butcher is known for. Overall it wasn't bad, but not as enjoyable as ealier audiobooks in this series.
"Great Book / Great Reading"
This is an excellent story - thought provoking but amusing and engaging. It was also an excellent reading. The narrator did a great job with it. It is easy to listen to and appreciate.
"Very Entertaining"
This book is typical Christopher Moore - meaning, very off the wall and very irreverent, but funny and entertaining. I listen to these on long road trips and am challenged when I need to stop and really just want to stay in the car and listen. Lots of fun.
"Good but Challenging"
This is an excellent book, but it is a challenging one to listen to as an audiobook. There is a lot technical in here and some of it is a little hard to follow as an audiobook. Still, the historical content is excellent and there is a great deal to learn from this reading. I feel like I have a much different perspecitve on key historical military figures and the state of warfare in their times.
"Very Entertaining"
Very funny, very entertaining. Had to find excuses to drive around so I could keep listening to it...
"Funny"
OK, I admit the guy who reads the part of Thomas Jefferson was a little creepy, but other than that, this was a great audiobook. Fun and funny! I laughed my way through almost the whole thing.
"Excellent Book, Excellent Reading"
An amazing story. I thoroughly enjoyed this Audiobook. For anyone who loves historical fiction, this is excellent. There are not only the rich details of life in the WWII North Africa Campaign, but profound messages about maintaining your humanity in the midst of war. The audiobook reading is also excellent and lends a dimension to the story you might not get from reading the book.
