"not one of his best"
must be one of his first books -- the sex part was completely unnecessary and unrealistic
"A "Sleeper""
I picked this because I enjoy history. Wow! A surprisingly good story. The author gives interesting details about the characters and events.
"Boring"
The narrator was slow, the text gave too many insignificant details. I think this was noted in other reviews. I've made it to their second meeting. Don't know if I can take much more.
"Not Michener"
This was made from tapes and the sound quality was poor (hard to understand while driving). The book was recommended by a friend. She liked it, but I didn't. Unnecessary descriptions of sex.
"IT REALLY IS A SMALL WORLD"
It was very interesting to see the relationships of Europe's leaders before WWI. I did spend a lot of time on Wickipedia and other sites to keep the genealogies straight -- very good story to inspire more research in history
"I ENJOY DICK FRANCIS BOOKS"
A good listen when you're driving 5 hours, or just doing housework -- pretty much G or PG rated
"TOO MUCH SEX DETAIL"
The story is pretty good -- a bit long, I was more interested in the history -- I doubt that human sex habits have changed, and I don't want to have to listen to all the details -- I did discover the skip feature of my iPod. I wish there was a rating system for audio so I don't have to waste my money on trashy novels.
"my new favorite author"
The story keeps you involved -- the author evidently does a lot of background research and weaves it into the story with unexpected twists. He keeps you interested without "sex scenes"
"Excellent"
Great book for history buffs, aviation buffs -- also a great story. Makes you want to buy the paper edition
