If you appreciate the southern voice, Rick Bragg is the guy for you. He has the knack of writing in a voice that many can speak but few can capture on paper. Great book. His previous book "All Over But The Shouting" is exceptional

This book is a great telling of a very disappointing story in the history of our government. While it is accepted that people are sacrificed in war for the betterment of society or to avoid a greater number of deaths, this book tells a story of high ranking officers, sending men to an undefendable outpost, and failing to support it to an extent which might have saved many lives. It is riveting, well told in story and naration, and well worth the read.

I consider Chris Kyle a true American patriot and by no means have any intention of denigrating him or the sacrifice he has made for our country by writing this review. Of the non-fiction books describing the Seals and their efforts on our behalf, I found his book not to be written with the same depth as other books discussing similar subjects. In my humble opinion the book is a little too much rah rah, and somewhat short on substance. I enjoyed it but not to the extent I did the Warrier Elite by Captain Couch, Seal Team 6 or Lone Survivor.

The beginning and end of the book are exceptional. Some of the middle is a little too full of unsupported opinion, but most of Ms. Maddow's opinions are well supported by research. In whole the book ties together how we can be in two seperate conflicts and yet there is little public uproar. If any American wants to understand how we have developed such a severe national deficit since the Clinton Administration, Ms. Maddow explains just how we have gotten to this point and she does so with significant factual support. She also does a great job explaining how the normal American has been lulled to sleep by our military complex to the point that 50% of Americans say they have not been effected by the wars. Despite the fact that we have spent trillions of dollars over the past ten years on the war effort while pawning our children's futures. The book is a very good read. The list of essential requirements for our future are right on point and are well worth the purchase price alone.

This is a must read for students of American History, or those curious about the modern days presidents and their relations. It may very well change your perception about one or two of the last ten or so presidents.

This book is not only a civic lesson, interesting told, it is an application of what made us great applied to our future. Every citizen in the US should read it.

I absolutely loved this book. It displays the full panopaly of the human condition, and shows how individuals cannot only persevere but thrive despite considerable adversity. It says a little about brotherly love also. Several sections brought both great admiration, and emotions to not only my mind, but my heart. I was happy to learn about a person who I had never heard anything about, especially a person who had suffered tremendously for the people of the U.S.

Since I work in the criminal law arena, the conclusions reached were interesting and should be thought provoking to the court system. I have known for a long time that the brain is one of the last unexplored areas on our earth. I hope 50 years from now we do not look back on how we deal with people with mental health differences and cringe at the lack of knowledge we had.
