In Storms of My Grandchildren, James Hansen - the nation's leading scientist on climate issues - speaks out for the first time with the full truth about global warming: the planet is hurtling even more rapidly than previously acknowledged to a climatic point of no return. Although Hansen was Al Gore's science adviser for the 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth, his recent data shows that our situation is even more dire today.

If you ever want to know all about the topic of climate change - this is it. The most detailed understanding of all aspects of CC including the political forces determined to delay doing anything about it. Only critisism is that there is a lot of reference to tables and graphs which are not available as part of the download. You can get the drift, but it would have been good to see the data. A must read/listen to every human being on the planet, because it going to affect every human on the planet.

Soccer moms drive Priuses. Sport utility vehicles are going hybrid. Families are using hemp shopping bags. More and more companies are developing "green" buildings. What's more, the business consultants say going green is easy and profitable. In reality, though, many green-leaning businesses, families, and governments are still fiddling with the small stuff while the planet burns. Why?

Auden definitely has the authority to write this book, as he has got his hands dirty, working with the people around him, making it happen. Well written and worth while reading if you want to know what is being done and what you can do to help.

"'You knew they were there, didn't you?' Kahlan asked in a hushed tone as she leaned closer. Against the darkening sky, she could just make out the shapes of three black-tipped races taking to wing, beginning their nightly hunt. That was why he'd stopped. That was what he'd been watching as the rest of them waited in uneasy silence."

Followers of many religious traditions have come to recognize Autobiography of a Yogi as a masterpiece of spiritual literature. Yet, for all its depth, it is full of gentle humor, lively stories, and practical common sense. Now, with this audiobook, the 1946 edition is again available, with all its inherent power, just as the great master of yoga first presented it.

It didn't take long to accustom the the dialect of the narrator, then I really found his voice soothing and heart opening to listen to.
As for the book, its starts off slow, but it is worth hanging in. The second half of the book is a treasure of experiences and learning. Overall it is an amazing story. Really gives us "mere mortals" a perspective of where we are on the journey to enlightenment, and the potential that lays within all of us. Inspiring! It would appeal to a person serious about their spiritual development. It expanded my mind well beyond what it was before listening this truly amazing autobiography.

In their darkest hour, hunted relentlessly, tormented by treachery and loss, Kahlan calls upon Richard to reach beyond his sword - to invoke within himself something more noble. Neither knows that the rules of battle have just changed...or that their time has run out.

This is defintely NOT a book for childrens ears! As an adult I am still dealing with some of the scenes - very terrifyingly impactful, yet I was compelled to continue with the story to enter into the depths and heights of these truly amazing charactors, and find out what happens. Compelling! It takes you to the extreme of human potential, both positive and negative. Amazing and complex charactors intertwined in a world and story that continues to expand in facinating regularity.
Looking forward to Book 2! How can it get better?
