Better story and performance.
No. I've read other books by Alan Furst and enjoyed them. This one came up short.
It may have been an OK book, but I couldn't get interested in the characters. I know it was a grim time, but it was also an energetic time.
Wish I could........but no.
This was a book that I purchased from the DAILY DEALS. It cost $2.95 and even if it were free it wouldn't be worth it. I love dogs and thought this was about the dogs. It's really about the morass of the depressed and self absorbed author. In short the book sucked. I couldn't bring myself to finish it.
No. There has to be better authors. Suspect by Robert Crais was much better.
His performance was OK. I just hated everything else about the book. I guess he did a good job of portraying and unlikeable character.
The main character.
Any promotion of this book should more accurately portray the contents. And suggest that if someone wants to get depressed......this is the book for them.
Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series and Donna Leon's Commissario Brunetti series. Good authors and many in the series.
Best: The detective character and the temporary secretary.Least: Too many "F" bombs. Over compensation by Rowling
Another book that could have benefited from editing
No. The jumping back and forth between stories was nuisance. I liked the story of the young couple. The old guy......not so much. I understand why the old guy character was there, but he just depressed me.
I've never like performances by multiple readers. Just me I guess.
I've read most of Tanenbaum's books. Good author, but the stories got very weird in his later books. Lots of terrorist crap.
The early works are very fun.
Was just OK. Not great. I would spend my money on better authors.
I thought the performance was good.
The first part of the book was interesting. Soon got tired of all of the terrorists and nazi back stories of atrocities.
Elmore Leonard is such a master of dialog and Frank Muller's narration was among the more enjoyable I've listened to.
Used a different female narrator......or just one
Ron's only problem was having to read sappy lines. Cassidy is consistently bad.
The female general
Would like to trade this book for another, but have read many Baldacci books - actually liked some. My bad.
