Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over 10 years on the force, she's seen it all - and knows that her survival depends on her instincts. And she's going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire - and suspect in Eve's murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it's up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about - except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.

I have tried 3 times to get into this book and it just cannot keep my attention. It's set in a futuristic world which wasn't what I expected. I wanted a good ol' crime story but I just can't stay with the story world being created. I'll try again and then maybe I'll change my review.

About three things I was certain. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

    Story

I live for vampire books but this is just horrible. The action doesn't start until three quarters of the way in and I wouldn't call that a climax at all. Maybe I just listened to this book while in the wrong frame of mind but the relationship between Edward and Bella feels ridiculous. I wasn't a teenager too long ago and I work with teenagers every day. Something just rubbed me the wrong way in this book. The narrator had no different voice for characters which made it sometimes frustrating to follow. I have several friends that have read the books and say the second was the best. I doubt I'll waste a credit to find out.
