Sam Harris is spot on. As I listened to ???The Moral Landscape???, I cannot help but think of the frustration that so many intelligent people throughout history have felt when confronted by the masses that refuse to listen to simple fact and reason. Whether trying to convince people that the world is round or that skin color does not matter, changing the minds of the majority has never been easy - or popular. Thankfully there are people like Sam who challenge us and aren't afraid to try to sail around the world.
Articulately written and well researched, Peter Boghossian breaks it down into its simplest terms. I only wish I would have benefited from his wisdom earlier in my life and broken free sooner. Highly recommend both for yourself and as a gift for friends.
Wow was this a great lecture! Shermer is an interesting speaker and I found it hard to stop listening. This course should be on the list of required freshmen courses for all college students. As a skeptic in training myself, this course helped equip me with some important new tools that I know I'll be able to use at home in everyday life and in business.
I really enjoyed this audio book. Dan Brown does a masterful job of creating a complex mystery that is hard to put down, woven with fascinating historical and architectural details and Christian religious mythology. I love books where you that are so entertaining, while educational as well.
I thought the narration was a perfect fit for the book. The book itself is very rich. It is one of those books with depth and complexity.
It was a great story of attraction and desire. Deep and rich and full of surprises.
Her sensual voice is perfect for this story. See seems to get the book and has a perfect way of telling the story.
Want to learn why Siri is so accurate at natural speech recognition? You will be amazed at just how far our understanding of the brain has gone. We really are approaching a time where computers will become intelligent and learn just like humans. Wow!
Yes. It is a very deep topic, but fascinating and I found I could not put it down.
While I find it very interesting to think about where science and technology will take us in the future, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I learned about what is currently being worked on. Kaku covers a very wide range of topics and has given me some great ideas for future reading!
I definately found it hard to put down and ended up losing some sleep because I couldn't stop listening.
Entertaining, revealing, changing
The author's own experiences realizing he was gay at a young age and relating what it was like growing up gay. I love his total openness in relating his own experiences and beliefs. He lays it right out there, like more people should.
I enjoyed the book. Perhaps not all of his research is scientifically spot on as some reviewers pointed out, but most of it is, plus the story was very entertaining and it left me with some new perspectives. I love books that really make you think and this book accomplishes that!
Unexpected, intriguing, enjoyable
I don't want to give out any spoilers, but I love the martial arts woven into the story line.
The Japanese accent is a perfect fit for the book, especially if you've traveled in Japan and have experienced the culture.
Loved it. Now I have to read the entire series!
A must read! It makes you realize the fragility of human elightenment and makes you think about how we must carefully guard it and nurture it..
This book has given me a greater respect for the humanities than ever before.
No I would not. Weak storyline, poor narration, and difficult to follow.
There storyline was just very weak and not believable. Add bad narration and it was not an enjoyable read.
