"Fantastic"
What a great read. The Geography of Bliss is a really fun book covering several exciting travel destinations. Eric is a great narrator and provides some interesting and often amusing insights to different cultures around the world. Lots of ideas for future travel plans!
"Captivating!"
I thought the narration was a perfect fit for the book. The book itself is very rich. It is one of those books with depth and complexity.
It was a great story of attraction and desire. Deep and rich and full of surprises.
Her sensual voice is perfect for this story. See seems to get the book and has a perfect way of telling the story.
"Amazing"
Want to learn why Siri is so accurate at natural speech recognition? You will be amazed at just how far our understanding of the brain has gone. We really are approaching a time where computers will become intelligent and learn just like humans. Wow!
Yes. It is a very deep topic, but fascinating and I found I could not put it down.
"Very Interesting and Enjoyable Book"
While I find it very interesting to think about where science and technology will take us in the future, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I learned about what is currently being worked on. Kaku covers a very wide range of topics and has given me some great ideas for future reading!
I definately found it hard to put down and ended up losing some sleep because I couldn't stop listening.
"Entertaining"
Entertaining, revealing, changing
The author's own experiences realizing he was gay at a young age and relating what it was like growing up gay. I love his total openness in relating his own experiences and beliefs. He lays it right out there, like more people should.
No
I enjoyed the book. Perhaps not all of his research is scientifically spot on as some reviewers pointed out, but most of it is, plus the story was very entertaining and it left me with some new perspectives. I love books that really make you think and this book accomplishes that!
"Great reading here!"
Unexpected, intriguing, enjoyable
I don't want to give out any spoilers, but I love the martial arts woven into the story line.
The Japanese accent is a perfect fit for the book, especially if you've traveled in Japan and have experienced the culture.
The Jazz!
Loved it. Now I have to read the entire series!
"Simply outstanding"
A must read! It makes you realize the fragility of human elightenment and makes you think about how we must carefully guard it and nurture it..
This book has given me a greater respect for the humanities than ever before.
"Just plain bad"
No I would not. Weak storyline, poor narration, and difficult to follow.
There storyline was just very weak and not believable. Add bad narration and it was not an enjoyable read.
"Not What it Appears"
No! Stephan Hawking is truly amazing and many of the stories that Ms. Ferguson tells are awe inspiring. Unfortunately Ms. Ferguson appears to have a huge chip on her shoulder over the fact that Hawking happens to be an atheist and goes off on strange religious tangents that really distract from what could have been a great story. For a better glimpse into the genius of Stephan Hawking, consider reading the books he has personally written, which are also available on Audible.
No
None - Ms. Boyd did a fine job.
The stories of Hawking are fantastic, but Ms. Ferguson's religious rants are grating.
"Good story intermixed with preachy distractions"
Maybe
Get off the soapbox and just tell the story. This really is a good story, but the preachy diversions are high school level at best and they detract - significantly
"The World is Round"
It was not that long ago in history when telling someone that "the world is round" would have been viewed as ridiculous, outrageous, or perhaps even illegal. We now take it as fact, but those earlier non-believers faced significant criticism or worse. The same is true about the earth rotating around the sun and hundreds of other facts, which we now take as facts, only because others were brave enough to oppose popular beliefs and speak the truth. Dawkins is one of those brave pioneers, who will go down in history as a bold discoverer, unafraid to passionately share his knowledge. Great interview and a classic must read book.
