On June 5, 2002, 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart, the daughter of a close-knit Mormon family, was taken from her home in the middle of the night by religious fanatic, Brian David Mitchell and his wife, Wanda Barzee. She was kept chained, dressed in disguise, repeatedly raped, and told she and her family would be killed if she tried to escape. After her rescue on March 12, 2003, she rejoined her family and worked to pick up the pieces of her life.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

As just a child, Elizabeth Smart battled the personification of evil and destroyed it. Her courage, gratitude and determination to choose a happy life following nine months of hell is awe inspiring. She has handed the reader a formula for overcoming adversity and loving life that he will not find in any self help book. Bravo Elizabeth Smart!

Linda Stephens is flawless as she narrates Margaret Mitchell's masterpiece. Gone With The Wind is both a compelling love story and heart wrenching historical fiction. No matter how many times you've read this novel before, you will be stunned by the new perspectives this narration offers. And if you've never read GWTW--prepare to be blown away!

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

    "compelling fiction with masterful narration"
    Overall

I can't recommend this novel enthusiastically enough! I was entirely unprepared for Stockett's moving plot and unforgettable characters. I'm certain this would be a magnificent read, but the multiple narrators ensure that this will become an audible favorite. I would give this recording 6 stars if I could!

John Lee's narration of this incomparable work of fiction is nothing short of breathtaking. Dumas' characters will live in your imagination for weeks after you finish listening to this novel. The marriage of this author and narrator is my favorite audible creation thus far.
