"Easy Listening"
This is a great listen, great price and I'm ecstatic that I was able to find it.
"Can't Not be Bored by the Reader - Too Bad"
The contents of the book could be interesting if someone with more pep was reading it. I tried several times to listen, but gave up before listening to an hour. And probably didn't listen to much of what I did hear because I couldn't dedicate myself to the dull voice.
"Not Sure How I Feel About It"
Needs a point. It reads like a long poem of questions with no conclusion. It's just suggestions of conclusions. Perhaps I missed the point somewhere in the listening, but I like a thesis to go along with what I am reading/listening to. The thesis doesn't have to be correct. He can, even in the midst of writing, come to a different conclusion. But there needs to be some sort of line of thinking, otherwise it's just a really interesting list of questions and biblical facts.
At the very least he could have said he doesn't know what he believes finally on the issue, but he has a series of questions and supporting Biblical excerpts to begin a discussion.
Yes. I've read/listened to other books of his that were compelling.
Yes. He tends to read all his own, so I wouldn't have much choice if I wanted to listen to another of his books. I'd have to say it does get a little annoying. He talks with what I can only describe as a feminine sounding sort of passion. It grinds sometimes like a kid whining about why he or she can't jump off the roof of the house. Makes me feel unsure he's sure.
I like to feel a certain amount or more of conviction when I hear something of God, and I didn't get that with this so much. However, I've always been curious about the actual definition of hell, so it has added somewhat to that internal discussion.
More a comment on the author himself as he presents his story and from what I've read heard. I don't care much if he decides to leave his church to do a speaking tour or whatever he's doing. I think it's sort of infantile for other pastors, like Rick Warren, to judge him for this decision. What I do care about, and worry about is the need to add unnecessary shock value.
The questions he's asking about are already mind bending enough, but then he feels the need to say he went to an Eminem concert. I don't care if he did or not. What worries me is that by saying this simple thing he is inviting controversy. The problem with this is people will engage. Then it will be more about his practices, and his positions. These are not even really related to what he might actually be wanting to get across...whatever that actually is.
"An education for Christians"
This book helped in my growing understanding of where many of Christian customs come from and where we seem to missing simple actions that may help us through marriage, grief and life in general.
"Something Everyone Should Understand"
This book puts into perspective the authorities we all have in our lives, and the importance of respecting each of them as authorities placed by God. It breaks down very simply why, whether we agree with their practices why we are to obey them accordance with Godly principles. As all Nee books...GREAT! Michael Kramer is also an excellent narrator.
"Revealing"
I never knew what the Jezebel spirit was and when I started researching it I wanted to learn more. This and Juanita's other teaching made a lot more things clearer for me in all areas of life where people's reactions and actions are concerned.
"Entertaining"
A good book, good story. It certainly makes one think about way God works, even if most of it is fiction.
I would have liked to rate the quality of the reader or sound. You hear too often the reader gulping.taking a breathe throughout the book. This was distracting.
"Enlightening"
This book is a great support to those seeking an answer about how to hear God, or why they are not hearing God.
"Enlightening"
The truths in this book are so simple, yet so hard to see without being told. It opened my eyes to things I had never before considered and kick myself for not realizing earlier.
Nee is generally a hard read/listen. Not because the writing is dull, but, because it is so rich and full. You have to dedicate real time to his books, this one included. I've had to rewind a few times, but it is well worth it.
"Lovely"
Lovely. A heart warming, heart wrenching listen.
Better than the movie. Some cheese, but every love story has to have a little of it I suppose.
It's refreshing to pretend for a while that love can be so innocent and free of worldly taints.
