Superbly crafted story - one of my favorites in the Jack Ryan series. Narration is pretty good - I have heard worse. He is pretty expressive with a good pace to his narration.

It has a terrific story, humorous, sprinkled with tidbits of history and customs of the times which I loved! I have avoided "Regency Romances" with their lurid book covers and rote story lines and I was very hesitant to buy this book - but the story premise was different, intriguing. Here is a story of the genteel poverty stricken protagonists, several of senior years. Hmmmm, how will that be played out? Now, there are young protagonists, too! And there is some genteel romance!. This is not a bodice ripper and if you want graphic sex then this is not for you. Rather, this is an exceedingly well crafted story with an original plot, engaging characters, a expose of mores and customs of the later 1700's and is a MUST read in my opinion.

Yes, I have always preferred the audio to the print version.

As usual, Hank gets into scrapes that he creates from his own bumbling actions. His spoonerisms, double entendres, etc are delightful. The characters of Hank and his side kick Drover are wonderful and our family has listened to these stories for decades. Now my grandkids listen to them! And I, as an adult, still enjoy listening to the new releases because they are just darn good yarns, like a great Twain short story!

The narrator! What a strident, harsh voice she has. It is like nails on a chalkboard. Her narration ruins a perfectly wonderful story.

When I read the book there were so many delightful and funny moments that had me literally laughing out loud. Her narration makes the story dull and uninteresting. I actually started and turned this off many times.

The narrator of the "Full" series did a great job of having distinct voices for each character - male or female, young or old, Southern or Northern accents - AND it was a pleasant voice to boot. The producers should have kept her for this Plum series.

As much as I love the Stephanie Plum series and have read every one of them - several, many times - I will not waste my credits on any of these stories with this narrator. I recommend that if you are new to this series you READ the books and not spend your credits to listen to the flat renditions.

This series was introduced to me by a patient. Imagine working in the neuro-surgical unit where people have just had brain or spinal surgeries and you hear frequent laughter emanating from a particular room. Naturally I HAD to go in and see what had this patient laughing! She had a pile of books on her bedside table. I had never heard of Janet Evanovich and I actually disliked the romance genre. But she sold me on these stories! Her good friend had insisted she take her stash of books to read during recovery. Suffice it to say, she needed the least amount of pain meds and I discovered an utterly delightful heroine who is a feminine Pink Panther - outlandish scrapes, exploding cars, a couple of hunks that come and go in her life, real nasties as she bumbles in and out of mayhem, some spicy scenes.... Lots of fun. Read them all!

I just love the tension of Mitch's dream job turning into a nightmare. You can feel for those who got sucked into the evil of The Firm and couldn't get out, you can feel horror and disgust for the top henchmen in The Firm. And the many characters that populate this book are real, dynamic, unpredictable and just very, very real and human. You can read this, get totally enmeshed in the books plot and characters and wonder just what you would do if in that situation. It is simply a well crafted story with plot developments that keep you from falling asleep or turning it off to get work done!

He is excellent in this narration.

It took several start and I would shut it off after 10 minutes and go to another book. I did get through it when I turned it on at bedtime and fell asleep listening to it night after night.

I have read and enjoyed her other stories (not in this series). This was just flatter, just too, too predictable. Romance has a forgone ending but there was not enough freshness in the situations and character to get lost in it as I would a good story.

She does a GREAT job with the narration in this book. Her voices for each character are very distinct which makes dialog so easy to follow.

Personally, I did not enjoy this. I could anticipate every upcoming scene, every emotional up and down. I like a romance book that has more depth to the characters so that I can really get into their hearts and minds.

Romantic. Realistic. Well paced.

I enjoyed the slow, relaxed development of the main characters.

Yes - but I couldn't! Due to the realities of daily life it took me a few days to finish.

The plot is realistic, true to how people react to loss, stress and change. The characters in the small town are engaging, distinctive and so enjoyable (and irritating or frightening as called for). The book was engaging and it left me wanting to read more in the series to see the evolution of the people in this town. I was especially taken with the crotchety old doctor! I want to see what happens to him!

THE Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce do a delightful job of bringing Holmes and Watson to life. These radio dramas are not direct retellings of Conan Doyle's writing but are great interpretations. The recording is old but the quality is good. I had these on tape decades ago and am thrilled to get them on my hard drive! There are a lot of stories in these series and you can't go wrong picking any of them for an entertaining listen. At the price - get them all! I won't describe the stories but almost every one in the series has been well written.

For both adults and children to listen to....... Hank is a cow-dog on Loper's cattle ranch in the Texas panhandle. All the stories are told from his perspective and if anyone is a dog lover then these stories are a MUST for your delight and enjoyment. Adults and children will both laugh at the scrapes Hank and his sidekick, Drover, get into. Adults will love the double entedres, the malapropisms, the spoonerisms that pepper the story. The narration is superb with the author able to take on many, many different voices. Our family started listening to these stories in the 80's, first on tapes which we literally wore out, then CD's and now on our computer and iPods!

This is another great John Clark story! A great plot. Lots of action. A horrible narration - flat, uninspired. I enjoy the story and know what is going to happen - otherwise I would probably lose attention to the story due to the flat narration.
