Fresh from a six-month sojourn in Italy, Lady Julia returns home to Sussex to find her father's estate crowded with family and friends: but dark deeds are afoot at the deconsecrated abbey, and a murderer roams the ancient cloisters.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I enjoyed the narrator Ellen Archer's versions more. Ellen Archer narrates the 1st and the 3rd.

In the autumn of 1558, church bells across England ring out the joyous news that Elizabeth I is the new queen. One woman hears the tidings with utter dread. Amy Dudley, wife of Sir Robert, knows that the bells she hears will summon her husband once more to power, intrigue, and a passionate love affair. Philippa Gregory paints a picture of a country on the brink of greatness, a young woman grasping at her power, a young man whose ambition is greater than his means, and the wife who cannot forgive them.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I really don't know the story. I could not get past the whiny old woman narration. I will never buy an audible with this narrator again!!!!

What could Philippa Gregory have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    ?????????

How could the performance have been better?

Bianca Amato (The Queen's Fool) could have narrated.

What character would you cut from The Virgin's Lover?

    ????

    Any additional comments?

I am learning to be more careful with audiobooks. A narrator can make or break a book.

Easily the shyest Wallflower, Evangeline Jenner stands to become the wealthiest, once her inheritance comes due. Because she must first escape the clutches of her unscrupulous relatives, Evie has approached the rake Viscount St. Vincent with a most outrageous proposition: marriage!

    Robbie says: "Easy 5 stars!"
    "best of the wallflower series"
    Overall

Loved the development of the characters of st vincent and evie. I loved the return of Ivo Jenner who was a character in previous LK books. St Vincent became the perfect rake turned hero. I was impossible not to love him by the end, I thought the narration for the whole series was quite good.

Call Me Irresistible is the book Susan Elizabeth Phillips's readers have long awaited. Ted, better known as "little Teddy," the nine-year-old heartbreak kid from Phillips's first best seller, Fancy Pants, and as "young Teddy," the hunky new college graduate in Lady Be Good, is all grown up now—along with Lucy from First Lady and Meg from What I Did for Love. They're ready to take center stage in a saucy, funny, and highly addictive tale fans will love.

    Overall

I usually love SEP books especially on audio. I did not enjoy this one though. Anna Fields is deeply missed. Natural Born Charmer will always be my favorite be my favorite and Anna Fields was a part of that. I also enjoyed What I did for Love which had a different narrator. This was a deep disappointment for a SEP fan.
