In investigating the poisoning of a young man in a bookshop at the Eastern Market, and the wrongful arrest of one Miss Sylvia Lee, Phryne Fisher is plunged into a world of Jewish politics, alchemy, poison, and chicken soup. Stopping only for a brief but intensely erotic dalliance with the beautiful Simon Abrahams, Phryne picks her way through the mystery with help from the old faithfuls: Bert, Cec, Dot, and Detective Inspector "Call Me Jack" Robinson.

Where does Raisins and Almonds rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Just as enjoyable as all the other books up to this point in the series. Probably not the best one but still a fantastic listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved all the new Jewish characters that were introduced. Stephanie Daniel did a great job with the accents.

An orchestral conductor has been found dead and Detective Inspector Jack Robinson needs the delightfully incisive and sophisticated Miss Fisher's assistance. Hugh Tregennis has been murdered in a most flamboyant mode by a killer with a point to prove. But how many killers is Phryne really stalking? At the same time, the dark curls and disdainful air of mathematician and code-breaker Rupert Sheffield are taking Melbourne by storm. They've certainly taken the heart of Phryne's old friend from the trenches of WWI, John Wilson. Phryne recognises Sheffield as a man who attracts danger and is determined to protect John from harm.

    Any additional comments?

I'm not sure why other reviewers say this book isn't as good as the others in the series - it was equally as entertaining and delightful. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and had no idea "whodunnit" before the inevitable reveal (although I don't try and guess, it didn't seem any more obvious once I knew than any of the other books). If you've enjoyed all the other Phryne adventures, go forth and anticipate the same escapism you've come to expect from Kerry Greenwood.

I loved this book as much as the previous in the series. The characters continue to develop (including the cats!) and I love that Corinna hates Christmas....or does she?

Nola Leary would have been content to stay in Kilcairy, Ireland, healing villagers at her family’s clinic with a mix of magic and modern medicine. But a series of ill-timed omens and a deathbed promise to her grandmother have sent her on a quest to Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky, to secure her family’s magical potency for the next generation. Her supernatural task? To unearth four artifacts hidden by her grandfather before a rival magical family beats her to it. Complication One: The artifacts are lost somewhere in vampire Jane Jameson’s occult bookshop. Complication Two: Her new neighbor, Jed Trudeau, keeps turning up half-naked at the strangest times....

What made the experience of listening to The Silver Linings Playbook the most enjoyable?

Imaging the main character as Bradley Cooper was a delight through the whole story.

What did you like best about this story?

The ending. It all comes together and the journey you've taken with the characters makes what seemed to be a slow story all make sense.

    Any additional comments?

I didn't love this book until the end. I hated it in the beginning. Somewhere in the middle I started to connect to the story and I'm glad I stuck with it. It was a great book to drive with - not so much a good one for the gym. This story will stay with me long after books I enjoyed so much more have been forgotten.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If they had read/listened to the first book I wouldn't need to - it's more of the same fantastic story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Love Agent Franks in this book. I know we are meant to hate him but the more we find out about him the more we understand.

    Any additional comments?

If you enjoyed the first book, then you'll love the second. Further character development, more background to the story and more information on the characters past and the secrets they didn't share in the first book.

If you could sum up Monster Hunter International in three words, what would they be?

    Compelling entertaining action

Who was your favorite character and why?

How can you not love Earl the best. Can't wait to read Book 3 which is all about him.

What about Oliver Wyman’s performance did you like?

Mr Wyman's performance really brought the story alive and you could truly keep track of all the characters...even the females.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Girls...don't be put off by the guns and the gore.

    Any additional comments?

As a typically "girly" book listener/reader I was hesitant to listen but thoroughly enjoyed this book and encourage anyone who doesn't mind the odd action film to give action novels a go.

Loved the scene in the well with the Professor. But don't want to give too much away. Phryne has such a way of making the best of a situation.

One of my favourite books in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed Phryne's adventures in Sydney at the University and the characters that were introduced to us.
