The picture of children, in California carrying rail road sidings and breaking rocks and adults watching on, telling them to run not walk--- an upsidown world.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Sadness, shock, anger-- why has it taken so long for someone to do something about this? Jenna you are a heroine.

I hope the Government agencies in the USA have to read this as compusary text. A real problem , happening today that they can solve. Shut them down now before they have another Jonestown on their hands. Also-- this would make a great movie.

This is a thought provoking trilogy with original refreshing characters intermingled with believable scientific imagination stirred with the right amount of human behavior and a little romance. A challenging story line that really works. When is the movie coming out?

Perhaps but I think the main thing is that it makes you want to go and read up,on EMP.

This book simplistic as it is, is thought provoking. It doesn't say too much about humanity and how we could quickly just degrade into a feudal system in a few weeks. What is this promoting? I wonder...is it typical American fear , republican style and 'there be Dragons' anti everyone else American. Or illuminating something real. So plausible scenario or scare mongering?

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes and no. I like the story but clearly the author knows nothing about teenagers and family life around teenagers...these children are just too polite and too perfect.

What did you like best about this story?

The underlying these is complicated and holds a lot of scientific imagination without being overly descriptive.

Did The Second Ship inspire you to do anything?

It was good enough to buy the second book Immune, which I think is better with more action and imagination.

The first book made my teeth grit with all the herbal tea, getting up early to watch the sun rise and gluey politeness of the main character Heather. I also find it a little unbelievable that such intelligent science whiz kids would consider religion.So good story on the one hand, unbelievable characters on the other.
