The narrator has a real southern drawl for his Montana cowboy character and for most of the narration but puts on a good female voice for the main female character. This book is a combination thriller/mystery and Christian novel. Lizzie O'Malley is a forensic MD who uses her skills to solve murders. Quinn is the Christian cowboy who comes into her life and psychoanalyzes her and works hard to make her become a believer like him and all of the other members of her family. Will she or won't she? That's part of the suspense of the novel. Overall, the book is enjoyable. I may download another one of her books in the future.
This book and The Pillars of the Earth by the same author rank very high on my all-time favorite books list. Each book is around 40 hours if I remember right, broken into 6 or 7 parts and when first downloaded seem absolutely daunting. That said, if you download these books (start with Pillars of the Earth, the first of two books in the series), you will not want to take your headphones out of your ears (or quit driving the car with the book playing). Such great stories of life in 12th century England. Highly recommend.
This was a very good story. The two main characters were a teenager who ended up in foster care and an older woman who, when younger, was sent on an "orphan train" to the midwest for adoption. The two meet and realize their stories are similar. Enjoyable listen.
I saw this on Audible after considering going to the movie version. Since it didn't appeal to my husband I decided to just listen to the book. It wasn't as much of a tear jerker as I thought it would be. Instead, it was just an enjoyable listen. I grew to like both of the main characters and enjoyed the plot.
I wouldn't have picked up this series had it not been for our 12 year old who highly recommended it. While definitely written for the 12 to 17 year old age group, it's a series which even adults will enjoy. The plot is easy to follow and engaging and held my interest. If I were to categorize it I would call it a Science Fiction Action book. Good listen for older kids and adults.
I love thrillers and this one is about as good as it gets. A kill order on Dewey sets in motion a series of events which cause Dewey to go rogue looking for those responsible. This is one of those listens you won't easily be able to put down. Highly recommend.
Andy Carpenter books are just plain fun. Andy is funny, and has so much interesting self-talk going on in his head (which you get to hear in the book). You also hear quite a bit about Tara, Andy's golden retriever, a plus for dog lovers.
In this installment of the Andy Carpenter series, Andy and his team take on a client who has been accused of locking 27 people in an apartment building and then setting fire to the apartment building. Seems like a lost cause, but somehow Andy and his team figure things out and get a good resolution as always. Great book, can't wait for the next one!
For the first couple hours of Sleight of Hand, I found myself debating about whether to finish this listen. I am so glad I made it past and finished it as once it grabbed me I found I could not put it down. I love mysteries/thrillers and this one was a lot of fun.
David Rosenfelt's series of books about lawyer Andy Carpenter are wonderful, and each new book is just a delight to listen to. This one was engaging, fun, suspenseful and immensely entertaining, full of colorful characters. Pick up this series at the beginning (Open and Shut) and if you enjoy that one as much as I did, you will want to read the books in order and will eagerly anticipate the next one as I do.
I think I've read all of the books in the Alex Cross series and this 20th book in the series didn't disappoint. Fast moving, held my interest and enhanced my daily commute. Not a blockbuster, and not as good as some of the previous books in the series but still a good solid listen. If you haven't read anything else in the series, I recommend you start at the beginning with Along Came a Spider.
Based on some of the other reviews I decided to take a chance on this book. Unfortunately, I am not on the same wavelength as many who raved about this book and found it very bland and uninteresting. Don't recommend.
