"Uplifting and action packed Christian fiction"
I listened to this entire series twice about two years apart and am writing the review after listening the second time. There aren't too many books I want to listen to more than once but this one has a good mix which keeps it interesting. If you are considering this book, you should start with Last Light, the first book in the series. Night Light is the second book and True Light is the third. This one (Dawn's Light) is the fourth. In Last Light, all electrical power and electronic devices on Earth mysteriously stop working one day. The books follow a typical American family, the Brannings, as they try to survive in what will become a very real crisis. As they encounter impossible situations their Christian faith is challenged and strengthened. Highly recommend this series.
"Grabbed me about 1/4 of the way in"
For the first couple hours of Sleight of Hand, I found myself debating about whether to finish this listen. I am so glad I made it past and finished it as once it grabbed me I found I could not put it down. I love mysteries/thrillers and this one was a lot of fun.
"Another Great Listen in the Andy Carpenter Series"
David Rosenfelt's series of books about lawyer Andy Carpenter are wonderful, and each new book is just a delight to listen to. This one was engaging, fun, suspenseful and immensely entertaining, full of colorful characters. Pick up this series at the beginning (Open and Shut) and if you enjoy that one as much as I did, you will want to read the books in order and will eagerly anticipate the next one as I do.
"Another solid Alex Cross story"
I think I've read all of the books in the Alex Cross series and this 20th book in the series didn't disappoint. Fast moving, held my interest and enhanced my daily commute. Not a blockbuster, and not as good as some of the previous books in the series but still a good solid listen. If you haven't read anything else in the series, I recommend you start at the beginning with Along Came a Spider.
"Beyond Belief that I actually finished this book"
Based on some of the other reviews I decided to take a chance on this book. Unfortunately, I am not on the same wavelength as many who raved about this book and found it very bland and uninteresting. Don't recommend.
"Good mix of fiction and history"
Who knew that at the time of great contention over slavery that Mary Lincoln's best friend was an African American seamstress? This book was obviously well researched and included a good bit of the author's imagination, a combination which made for an outstanding novel. While most of this author's books have been designed for quilters, this novel will appeal to a broader audience. Really enjoyed this one and may listen to it again.
"Another delicious mystery"
Devil's Food Cake Murder, like other Hannah Swensen adventures, are light and easy reading. There's a continuing cast of characters so, if you would like to listen to these books, you should start with her first, the Chocolate Chip Cookie murder. Recipes are included!
"Thrilling, romantic, historical all at once"
The Persimmon Tree (the first book in the Nick Duncan series) was my second listen by Bryce Courtenay (Jack of Diamonds was my first) and I am so happy there are many more Bryce Courtenay books remaining for me to enjoy. The narration of this book is spectacular, the story is completely engrossing. This is a solid 5 star book. Highly recommend!
"Jack Reacher fans will love John Puller"
The Forgotten was a very good story, plenty of action, and several well developed characters who are trying to stop horrific crimes in Paradise Florida.
While listening to The Forgotten, I was reminded time and again of the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child, as the two characters (Jack Reacher and John Puller of Forgotten) are similar in many respects. If you have enjoyed a prior John Puller book (Zero Game?) or a Jack Reacher novel, you will likely enjoy The Forgotten.
"Hilarity Reigns"
I've listened to (or read) all 19 books in this series, starting with One for the Money. Notorious Nineteen didn't disappoint! Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum seems to be edging slightly closer to resolving her difficulty choosing between the two hunks (Ranger and Morelli) but she still has her "issues" (cars blowing up, near death experiences, crazy eating habits) she should probably try to overcome before settling down. This book was on par with many of the past episodes and caused me to laugh out loud several times while listening. How many books can do that? If you have kept up with this series, definitely get this book. If you are new to this series, start from the beginning. Either way, enjoy!
"The Drop is Da Bomb"
This is my 2nd Harry Bosch book, lucky for me! Now I envision a future of happily listening to over a dozen prior Harry Bosch books! This book really kept me listening which is surely a sign of a great audio book. Great plot line, fast pace, wonderful characters kept me glued to my headphones from start to stop of this audiobook.
