"OMGoodness!!!! Fab - classic Nora !!!"
Pretty close to the top!
The graveyard scene toward the end.
Really good interpretation of different voices. And, the exact replica of emotion!
I abso-poso-tively Cried!!!!
Great series - Nora rocks again!!
"Decent Storyline - Terrible Narration"
It was tedious at times because the narration was so poor - as well as the quality of the recording.
A talented narrator and higher quality production. The story itself was good - I just struggled with listening to it. I would have better off reading this one.
Absolutely not. Tedious and annoying.
No
Average story - this could have been much more enjoyable with a skilled narration.
"Yikes...TSTL Lead Character"
Alice is really, really stupid. At first, I thought perhaps the whole wide-eyed innocent disingenuous thing might work. Not. I have read all of these books and found that as time goes on, each book Foster puts out, the lead female becomes more and more annoying to me. This one tops the list of TSTL (too stupid to live). In this book Alice takes a risk that is beyond stupid - when all she had to do was make a phone call to her POLICE DETECTIVE boyfriend and get help in a very dangerous situation. But because of some atonement crap issues she seems to have, she figures she is smarter and better able to handle a dangerous situation. When in truth, she not only endangered herself but also the other person she was "rescuing." What if the bozo bad guy had killed them both, which he could have easily done, then what? Yikes, I cannot stand dumb characters. And her absolute oblivion to logical thinking and understanding why her now lover is upset over her actions is beyond ludicrous. I also found the secondary character Rowdy to be a very confusing character. He is supposedly a stand-up guy - but in one scene between him and a woman he is interested in - he acts like a complete a** - basically letting her know that if she won't put out - another woman will. Too bad, so sad honey, it could have been you, but well - I'm gonna get me some action tonight either way. And that is supposed to make him sexy????? Ugh is too mild a word.
Probably done with her. I don't even know if I can finish this one...
He drones when he reads...dragging out certain words in a way that takes you out of the story.
Definitely the one with Rowdy in the bar with Avery described above.
I used to really like Lori Foster - but I don't get why she seems to want to portray women as dumb and needy and her male characters arrogant to the point of total jerks. I like a strong alpha male as good as the next woman, but some of the actions and words that come out of these guys mouth - well if someone talked to me that way, I'd knock their block off. And I sure wouldn't find it sexy. I don't think that is Foster's intention, but I don't see how any intelligent woman could read these characters and view them in any other light.
"Boring...Predictable...Wasted Credit...."
Probably not....
The premise for the book was good - however, the writing came across as amateurish. The main character was whiny and unprofessional. Constantly putting herself in the path of danger - I intensely dislike "too stupid to live" characters. Her motivations for these "too stupid to live moments" were very unbelievable and....stupid.
Well enough.
I've already forgotten their names...that boring....
"Great book! Nobody does it better than NR!"
Absolutely - I just really enjoyed the storyline and the characters.
It was a series of moments really - watching this interesting man regain his balance and re-engage in life. Just a sweet transformation.
Not necessarily - but it was one I enjoyed going back to. I definitely wanted to see what would happen next with this fun and interesting couple. Great story.
Just a really good feel good book! NR rocks again....
"Good Plot - Dumb Heroine"
Hard to say - it's a good plot, but I was pulled out of the story more than once when the main character (Catherine) would do something so stupid you wanted to smack her. The cops aren't far behind her for stupid. Two different times the main characters had ample opportunity to kill the bad guy and didn't. Yikes - stupid!
Maybe
Anyone - really bad male voices.
Yeah - erase it.
Argh - frustrating book. Very annoying.
"Interminably Tedious....."
I am only half way through and don't know if I can - or even want - to finish this book. The only character in this book I can stomach is Taylor - he seems to be the only normal one in the bunch. Eden/Lindsey is a completely spineless wuss! While I could feel real sympathy for her at 16....by the time she hits her 20's, I am like, really?? Find your spine and tell that crazy moranic family to go jump off the Golden Gate bridge. Yikes, she is annoying....
No
The narrators were ok - I just don't usually care for 2 narrators doing a book, it seems disjointed and often pulls you out of the story when the voices change back and forth.
Anger at the sheer stupidity of the main character and lack of spine. Her family is supposed to be evil - but really came across as cartoon villains. And have mercy - way too long to get the story told. Just scene after scene of this spineless woman trying to grow a set and stand up for herself. Really tedious.
So - maybe I'll finish it - but probably not.
"OK Book -"
The witty banter in the book is well written and well performed. What I didn't like is the fact that the premise of this series is characters associated with the FBI and the US Attorneys office. The first in the series used the premise well for an excellent Romantic-Suspense. The following 3 editions of this series are pretty much straight contemporary romance with very little, if any, suspense/mystery/action in the plot. A bit boring for my taste.
Not sure - she started out strong with a really good romantic suspense - but then it pretty much became straight romance. Several hours of angst and why we can't be together is a drag to me - very predictable storyline and ending.
Yes - she is very good.
Mixed feelings on that. I can't say it isn't well written and narrated - just a bit boring. I think I am done with the series as it has become what does not interest me - straight contemporary romance.
I really enjoyed this author when she added action/suspense in the mix. I'll be looking to see if she does anything like that again in the future.
"Dumb"
Dumb, dumb woman as the lead. While I could appreciate the way that she wrote about the woman's blindness - it was hard to overlook the woman's sheer stupidity in continually putting herself in harms way in her quest to be "independent." I am all for independence - but there is nothing more annoying that stupidity in the guise of independence. Plus - she was just hateful at times.
n/a
There wouldn't be much book left....
Wasted my money on this one. I couldn't even finish it - I just got so annoyed trying to listen to it - I finally gave up.
"Leading Lady TSTL"
I have now read all three of the books in this series - my 2 quibbles are the lack of real passion between the main characters - or - the believability of it. And in all three of these books the leading female character has 2 or three instances of completely too stupid to live moments where she puts herself in danger after significant threats have already been made. I find that a very annoying trait in someone who should have more sense.
The actual mystery plot was good. The leading lady's dumb moves kept pulling me out of the story.
It was o.k. Could have been a lot better with a smarter leading character. She would do smart things and then turn around and do something so stupid it pulled you out of the story and made you want to give up on the book.
"Almost a 4 star - but too many dumb moments"
It was o.k. I have now read all three of the books in this series - my 2 quibbles are the lack of real passion between the main characters - or - the believability of it. Smarter moves by the leading lady please...
