I really liked this book, its characters, and its subject matter. I saw one review that compared it to Lian Hearn's books. The topics are similar but the style, plot, tone and overall feeling are all very different. That comparison doesn't seem justified or accurate. I think this is an enjoyable book and very fascinating in its own way. I recommend it.
There are a lot of books out there like this series and some might even be better written. But i just loved these characters. I can't say that about some of the other popular YA books.
These characters are enjoyable, they like each other, they are good to each other and i just really liked them.
Usually sisters in these books don't like each other and adults are made to seem like the enemy. But in this series there is genuine love, and I found that refreshing.
The world of revenants is fascinating. This series is a good listen! And the narrator does a fabulous job.
This had good reviews and I started listening and enjoyed the funky characters. The author's writing style even had me laughing out loud in my car.
And then all of the sudden, it turned into it soft porn and I was so disappointed.
I was getting into the story and it had so much promise. I was really liking the characters.
Why did it have to be wrecked with the overly descriptive sex scenes?
I guess some people are into that, and that's fine. I just wish it wasn't part of this book. I can't even continue it and I would've liked to.
The author is talented and her characters are enjoyable. The narrator did a good job too.
If anyone knows of a PG13 version, let me know.
I found this story very enjoyable and the narrator was terrific. It was a fun story with some very interesting twists and I would definitely recommend it. There were a few holes (of course they'd teach an assassin to fight in dress clothes), but they were minor and not too distracting. I will definitely be reading the sequels.
this was a lot of fun. it's set apart (at least a little) from the other star-crossed vampire-ish love stories by the quality and depth of the history and literary insight. I loved the house's personality. I almost think it is my favorite character, aside from Diana.
and seriously, this narrator is fantastic!!!!!!
this was a really enjoyable story. it kept me on the edge of my seat. i was a little distracted by some of the random cursing. it just seemed unnecessary. but aside from that, I liked this and look forward to other books by this author. the narrator was fabulous.
The subject matter made me so upset: kids being mean to kids, races being mean to different races, prejudice, misconceptions. But the author wrote about it all so very well. His style is fantastic.
So, even though I was troubled at times, it was still a terrific book. And I would recommend it to others.
On top of that, the narrator was outstanding!
This book seemed like a movie, in a way. It was written well -- good dialog, vocabulary, and the like. But the plot was just very movie like. I guess that's not a bad thing.
The narrator was outstanding!!!
Overall, I think it was entertaining, if a tad long.
This was an absolutely terrific book. I fully enjoyed it. My only complaint was that it seemed to end too abruptly. I loved the characters and I loved the narrators. I strongly and wholeheartedly recommend this book!
I really enjoyed this story. It's well read and well written. Coriander is a fabulous character. I was very entertained and looked forward to my commute (where I listen to all of my audio books).
Jane Eyre is, of course, a fabulous book. But when narrated by Juliet Stevenson, it is brought to life in the most satisfying way. I have loved listening to this book and getting to know the characters (again) through Ms. Stevenson's lively narration.
