The narrator and author are one and the same and I LOVE that. I love her style of writing and her explanations are so educated and well researched and she speaks to me because I can relate to her desires and needs.
It was a lot more educational than the first book, Eat, Pray, Love. That was also educational in many ways but it was intertwined around a much broader storyline. This book, even though a continuation of that same story, lacked a lot of the story telling elements which I had hoped would continue on. Still, a brilliant read and really spoke to me since I am a girlfriend to a man I would jump at the chance to marry. It really gives you a very multi-facetted insight at marriage and how it is viewed across different cultures and through different people’s eyes. Stirring. A great author with a gift for interpreting difficult things in a simple and sane manner without the over-use of long, difficult words.
This book is fabulous for those who enjoy online emertion such as Second Life, World of Warcraft or even if you just love using the internet. It is even better for those of us who thrived in the 80s. My boyfriend read the first couple of chapters of this book and told me that it was DEFINITELY something I could get into. I have to say that it is a very cool, very easy to follow account of something incredibly attractive to me. Well done!
From start to end it was action and insight and ....magical! Way to go Jim Butcher. Way to Go JAMES for your epic performances on all the Dresden books. Love it.
The entire thing, from the first page to the last, was absolutely brilliant. No wonder it was turned into a movie. I must confess that I saw the movie before I ever cared about reading the book but I have been so drawn in by the story that the movie is now one of my all-time favorites and the book I have listened to and read so many times I have lost count. It is so satisfying to see the wear on the book that I own and so satisfying to her the story exactly as it was meant to be heard with the author reading it. I cannot say enough about this book. I could sit here and rave about it for a good long time, but instead I urge everyone to give this a listen. It is a portal to a whole new way of understanding myself and putting into perspective exactly what it is that I want out of life.
