  • Already Dead

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By Charlie Huston
    • Narrated By Scott Brick
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

From the Battery to the Bronx, Manhattan is crawling with Vampyres. Joe Pitt is one of them, and he's not happy about it. Yeah, he gets to be tough as nails and hard to kill. But spending his nights trying to score a pint of blood to feed the Vyrus that's eating at him isn't his idea of a good time.

    Flavius says: "A Pleasant Surprise"
"I am glad I took the chance!"

After reading several reviews, I decided to purchase this audiobook. I didn't want to turn the story off to go to sleep, nor turn it off to go to work! I was hooked! This book is gritty, and if you are offended by swear words or sometimes gruesome details, this book may not be one that you want to pick. However, I am quite satisfied with my purchase, and have purchased the second book in the series, No Dominion. This book is a classic "whodunnit" and you are lead along with the main character through the plot twists. This story had me emotionally involved. I had almost given up on the vampire genre, the books all seemed to rehash to same plot. I was very pleasantly suprised, especially since the narrator is by no means my favorite, although I do admit he does this book justice. I can't wait to see how the main characters develop in the second story! Purchase this one, you will enjoy!

  • The Book of the Dead

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child
    • Narrated By Scott Brick
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The New York Museum of Natural History receives their pilfered gem collection back, ground down to dust. Diogenes, the psychotic killer who stole them in Dance of Death, is throwing down the gauntlet to both the city and to his brother, FBI Agent Pendergast, who is currently incarcerated in a maximum security prison.

    "A little familiar"

The book was enjoyable, even though the basic plot reminded me of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Final Problem. That said, it was a highly entertaining book and the this narrator was superb, as usual.

  • The Likeness

    • UNABRIDGED (22 hrs and 30 mins)
    • By Tana French
    • Narrated By Heather O'Neill
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Tana French's debut, In the Woods, hit the New York Times best-seller list and drew rave reviews from the Times (London) and Booklist. Picking up six months later, this riveting sequel finds Detective Cassie Maddox still scarred by her last case. When her boyfriend calls her to a chilling murder scene, Cassie is forced to face her inner demons. A young woman has been found stabbed to death outside Dublin, and the victim looks just like Cassie.

Michael says: "Really on a Different Level"
"The author draws you into this world"

I purchaed the first book of this "series" and thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed this one no less. The characters are quite well-developed and the storyline is excellent. I will be buying more of this author's books.

  • Witchling: Otherworld, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 3 mins)
    • By Yasmine Galenorn
    • Narrated By Cassandra Campbell
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

We're the D'Artigo sisters: Half-human, half-Faerie, we are savvy - and sexy - operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But our mixed-blood heritage short-circuits our talents at all the wrong times. My sister Delilah shapeshifts into a tabby cat whenever she's stressed. Menolly's a vampire who is still trying to get the hang of being undead. And me? I'm Camille - a wicked-good witch. Except my magic is as unpredictable as the weather, which my enemies are about to find out the hard way.

    Pam says: "Loved this book!"
    "Narration is simply annoying"

I purchased this book because I like this genre. I was disappointed in the narration. The narrator sounded like she had difficulty with ennunciation, especially the words ending with a "s". Although this may have been a better read than listen, I thought the author struggled with any new ideas, and decided to throw in every supernatural creature she could imagine. Shea, giants, were, vampires were only a few. I can't imagine purchasing any more of this series.

  • The Edge of Recall

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Kristen Heitzmann
    • Narrated By Katherine Kellgren

In Christy Award winner Kristen Heitzmann's spellbinding thriller, a troubled labyrinth expert longs for serenity and security. When her college crush calls, he asks her to restore a Colonial-era labyrinth as part of an elaborate renovation project. Yet while she tries to maintain a professional relationship with this man who broke her heart, a foul presence lurks in the dark woods - and soon creeps even closer.

    Deborah says: "Review"
    "A true waste of credits."

A grueling 11 hour slog through insecurity and paranoia. I am surprised the main character could function on a daily basis. Then, completely beyond belief, another person becomes romantically interested? The main character has trouble coping with normal conversations and has to call her psychiatrist at every available opportunity. Please don't read this unless you like no plot, very weak and depressing main characters, or you like background noise that you don't have to listen to. You could come back in a couple of hours and pick up where you left - more of the "I have problems, no one will care", yada, yada, yada.
