The book was fun as all of Molly Harper's books. Amanda Roncini's narration was great and the southern drawls are nice & slow, but I thought the Boston/Irish accent a little off. The Boston words (with the missing "R"s) seemed to jump out at me and made me lose my focus on the story.
I'm hooked -- I can't wait for my next credits so I can get the 2nd book. So much history packed in this book but it wasn't boring. The narration was good & I liked the subtle French accents. Sometimes I had a little trouble following some of the new character voices near the end of the book, but I enjoyed listening.
I think the narrator, Luke Daniels, enjoys voicing the different characters, especially the non-human, very much. He has enhanced a fun, very enjoyable story (series) and added another layer to their personalities.
The books put colourful pictures in my head & they have a great soundtrack too!
Great story fitting a 2000 year old druid into modern times. Listening to the stories of how things have changed.
Loved the dog Oberon. He sounded just like you would expect - if dogs could talk.
I can't listen to these books at work with headphones anymore because I laugh out loud too often.
I love listening to this series. It's unfortunate that there is a different narrator for this book, but John Glover did a great job. The only problem I had was that I listened to this book immediately after the previous & I had a harder time following the characters.
The book (& series) is great & the narration is top-notch (just a bit different)!
A continuation of a great series & fantastic narration. Looking forward to listening to the whole series.
The narrator, Allyson Johnson, has done a fantastic job -- although it must have felt more like narrating a technical manual rather than a novel ;)
I read & enjoyed some of this series years (& years) ago and it is wonderful to be able to listen to them. There are many characters and they are all voiced uniquely and very easy to follow.
It was wonderful listening to the different characters -- they were all unique with just enough of a New Jersey accent to make them come alive, but not too much to be annoying. I've read the books & saw the movie, but I really enjoyed listening and can't wait to get the rest of the series.
I've read the books, so I knew the story line. I enjoyed listening to this first book & will definately get the rest. I only had one problem with this audio book -- there were occasional, random sounds in the background. I think they were meant to enhance the story, but they were annoying. They would appear at odd times, play for a minute or so & then stop -- but I couldn't figure out the pattern.
Love listening to Johanna Parker's performance as she brings the charters to life and let's me visualize them all.
