What would have made Running with the Kenyans better?

Running with Kenyans was just a bit too slow for me, nothing grabbed me.

What was most disappointing about Adharanand Finn’s story?

It seems like a nice story and I feel a little sad saying I really didn't love it.

  • Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen

    Story

Why we think it’s a great listen: Want to join the “superhumans”? Luckily you don’t have to run to catch up with them, thanks to McDougall’s and Sanders’ inspiring (and motivating) journey through history, science, physiology, health, entertaining characters and unlikely friendships. Full of incredible characters, amazing athletic achievements, cutting-edge science, and, most of all, pure inspiration, Born to Run is an epic adventure.

    Story
Would you listen to Eat and Run again? Why?

I loved his take on eating vegan and being an athlete, I think it would change many people's minds on how they eat.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The diet aspect is the most interesting. Scott and many other people's "super athleticism" does make one think of it as an addiction...

Born in the United States, but reared in Mexico, Harrison Shepherd finds precarious shelter but no sense of home on his thrilling odyssey. Life is whatever he learns from housekeepers and, one fateful day, by mixing plaster for famed muralist Diego Rivera. When he goes to work for Rivera, his wife, exotic artist Kahlo, and exiled leader Lev Trotsky, Shepherd inadvertently casts his lot with art and revolution.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I LOVE Barbara Kingsolver, I have read everything she has ever written (that I know of).
I just could not connect with this story...
