Disappointed pretty much across the board. Wanted to like it and actually renewed by Platinum membership for the 2sd time in 2013 and this was the first book i pulled down.
Content was nothing that anyone interesting in area would not already have know or found out from reading an old Psychology Today in the dentist office.
Their may have been a table of contents but I didn't feel like it reflected a clear model.
Still quite angry I spend a credit on this and had to give up 2/3 way into the lecture and I not doing a good job but just so don't want to invest any more time ..
Just listen to a sample first...
btw - unless I mistaken Mr Rogers uses the phrase "most easiest" somewhere in 2sd or 3rd chapter...
better suggestions welcomed.
Dumbed down delivery on top of simplistic content
Felt like he was talking to remedial Freshman class ...
Waited two days to write and while I sure Prof DeWall is nice guy and many love him as a professor considering the intro but still hate I wasted so much time before giving up.
This maybe necessary and truthful or not but it's hardly kind.
Good interviewer who attempted to ask relevant questions followed by the author providing answers that were 95% gibberish. Yes, it maybe my inability to see deeper meaning in what words can never provide or it could just be gibberish.
Nothing by this guy
only with content
it could have been longer
Please listen to the sample. If you like it I wish you and your 30 to 40 essences well.
I really wanted to like Hex after the authors forward but several issues. I've bought both the audible and the kindle book and haven't been able to finish either one. Good price, good performance but issues with story and character development. Issue without spoilers, I hope.
All the characters ( with one possible exception) continually show poor judgement with regard to command decisions, technical insights, how to respond to possible/potential threats, all couple with the emotional maturity of 12 year old children.
Repeated clanging of the archaic use of 20th century technologies even for a new frontier world that gets painful to overlook after few chapters. Idiots making decision or making such obviously dumb ones to set up a story line.
No biologist? No linguist? Text messages that take minutes to translate? Surprise and wonder at basically electronic paper? Surprise at the idea that a communication device might also be used to listen to conversation without you knowledge!
Hex has lot promise and I may give the Coyote early novels a try but at best 2.5 stars for me.
The academic/VP at least until the middle of the book where i gave up did the smallest number of stupid things. But really saving his guess of it being a Dyson sphere because a real scientist wait to test his data before he tell anyone his theory ?? That old one ...
I the narrator voices I found quite polished. While not English myself I have both English family and friends who are Londoners and thought the accents were fine. His skills were the most impressive part of the show.
The story foreshadowing was so heavy handed even the good inspector would have know what was going on from the first 10 mins much less Mycroft or Watson.
Not at all into every life etc....
No scene but the voices of Sherlock (think Peter Cushing) and Watson were very good if not expected.
Not without complete rewrite.
