"maybe a 3 1/2"
This was a good book. I liked the main characters and their bantering back and forth. The story and the twists were good too. The narrator was too breathy when the characters were stressed. I don't remember him being this noticable in other readings.
"what was that"
This was not up to par with her last two books. The characters were so empty, they did not grab you. With the prior books, you really felt Archie's tension, pain, lust, and fear. He was too dull this time around. Very disappointed because I had been so excited to read the third installment.
"3 and a half stars"
I liked the second half much better. The first half dragged on and I was so tempted to keep fast forwarding, but you needed to know all the characters. The subject matter was pretty boring until they got into the creepy stuff, then it took off. Narration was good, except the voice he did for Erika Berger sounded just like Mr Burns on the Simpsons.
"Great Book"
Everything about this book was good. I am glad I listened to it because the narration was perfect. You cannot go wrong with JCO.
"no surprises"
This was just what I expected and wanted in a book. Narration was good, story was good, and all was delivered nicely.
"bad"
Not only was the story cheesey-bad, the narration was even worse. One of the worst books I have ever bought. I could not even finish it, so by the 4th hour I just hit fast forward until I got to the last few minutes and that was that.
"i liked it"
When I first started this book, I did not think I would like it. The tennis thing was weird, since I have no interest in it. The story took off though. I laughed out loud in several places and I really liked the dry voice of the narrator, he added to the story. I am going to continue listening to this series as opposed to reading the books.
"Trippy book"
I liked this book a lot, it was really different. At first, the story seemed disjointed. You are slowly introduced to the tie-ins but it comes together smoothly. The characters in the stories are explored and exposed. The ending was kind of abrupt, I thought I missed something. I liked the narrator. She had perfect delivery and emotion. I was looking forward to listening to the second in the series, but it is abridged. I don't do abridged. Instead I look forward to listening to the third in the series, which has been highly rated. Give this one a try.
"Looking for more by this author"
This was a very good book. I will be reading more by this author. He kept it tense, mysterious, and lively. The narrator had such a perfect calm and unshakable voice, he made it seem like you were an important part of the story. It enhanced the book a lot. The story was short and to the point. An easy read.
"I love a shocking read, but..."
This book had some funny lines, where I did laugh out loud. A Lot. I loved the narration. Chuck Palahniuk's voice was the best for this story because of his dead-pan, unshockable, dry delivery. A low rating because the shocking became common place. I expected to be totally disgusted, and I was looking forward to it, but this just became boring.
