This MAY have been a good book, but I will never know because the narrator was SO HORRIBLE that I could not get past it. It was like hearing my 10th grade biology teacher (who was monotone and super boring) read a book. The story was intriguing and I may get the book and read it, but I could not stomach this narrator. No WAY!

Three intrepid princesses find themselves targets in a deadly plot against the crown - until their uncle devises a brilliant plan to keep them safe.... Of all her sisters, Princess Stefanie is by far the least amenable to law and order, which is why she’s appalled to find herself masquerading as an unbearably drab clerk for the most honorable barrister in England. But her dull disguise turns out to have its privileges: namely, the opportunity to consort unchaperoned with her employer’s exceedingly handsome nephew, James Lambert, the Marquess of Hatherfield.

It's true, I am head over heels in love with this book, the characters and the story!!! I want more! LOVE IT! OMG!

The first book was good, but this one just BLOWS ME AWAY!

The narration is wonderful and the story, well it's almost 3 am, and I just somehow decided that to justify continuing to listen, I had to cook. Now, one steaming pot of fresh chicken noodle soup later (homemade including cooking the chicken) I am now trying to find something else to justify my late night - and my run-on sentences, but WOW! Good book!!!!

    LOVE !!!!

Eff was born a thirteenth child. Her twin brother, Lan, is the seventh son of a seventh son. This means he's supposed to possess amazing talent - and she's supposed to bring only bad things to her family and her town. Undeterred, her family moves to the frontier, where her father will be a professor of magic at a school perilously close to the magical divide that separates settlers from the beasts of the wild. With wit and wonder, Patricia Wrede creates an alternate history of westward expansion that will delight fans of both J. K. Rowling and Laura Ingalls Wilder.

    Story

This book tries really hard to be dystopic but they take normal words like "Child" and makes it into "childlings" which is somehow supposed to make us believe that society is that far away from our reality that it changes the venacular. Sigh...
There is also the problem with believing that these people can do magic, but then there are people who prefer not to do magic and want to live without it (WHY?) and then there is the whole problem with re-writing history and making the founding fathers magicians... Double sigh....
There are a whole lot of holes in the plot and even if you can suspend your disbelief, you still have to get through the book, which is alright, but not wonderful or transforming. I woud say it would be wonderful for a 7th grader. No major love interest or plot twists except that it is a BIG DEAL that she is the 13th child, until suddenly it isn't... IDK

In the frigid pre-dawn hours, in a distressed Midwestern city, hundreds of desperate unemployed folks are lined up for a spot at a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes. Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.

    Story

This was a very good book that focused on a retired police officer who is taunted by a serial killer who gets his kicks from killing random people. The only major criticizm that I have is that the narrator ALWAYS makes women sound like brainless air-heads who take a little too long to speak. That bothered me a little, one of the major players was named Holly, which is also my name, so I hated for her to sound so out of it, but all in all it was a very good listen. It was intriguing, but not scary, IMO, like some of the old S. King stuff was. This is a thinking book and it does have the potential to seem very real, which is scary in a different way. I liked it a lot and I recommend it, but it isn't a "sleep with the lights on" kind of scary.

I thought this story would NEVER END! Seriously, it was interesting in the beginning, but it quickly went to redundant and then just kept on plugging away. I lost interest after Alice grew up, but the story carried on. After reading the rave reviews, I tried to stick it out, but I never did see the hidden jewel that other people seemed to see. What I saw was a girl who's life was ruined by a pedophile and he went on to be loved and respected and she was a heartbroken little girl. It raised my hackles because I was molested for years and I am VERY protective of children. In the book, he never touhes her, instead he simply takes naked or near naked pictures and shares them with his pedophile friends and leaves her to the ruins of growing up in Victorian society. UGH! Not my type of entertainment at all!

As the daughter of a famed author, Isolde Ophelia Goodnight grew up on tales of brave knights and fair maidens. She never doubted romance would be in her future, too. The storybooks offered endless possibilities. And as she grew older, Izzy crossed them off. One by one by one....Now Izzy's given up yearning for romance. She'll settle for a roof over her head. What fairy tales are left over for an impoverished 26-year-old woman who's never even been kissed?

This book was marvelous! I just love love love it! The story is so fun and there were totally Laugh Out Loud moments! There were also sincere and heartfelt, painfully beautiful moments. Imagine that Harry Potter were based off a real boy, and that boy (or girl in this case) was YOU. That is what our sweet and intrepid Heroine is suffering from, that and a total lack of funding for -- well, living.
I am SO IMPRESSED! I did not want this book to end! Why did it have to end??? Wow! The narration was brilliantly done and with such great character voices and imagery, it was like watching a movie in my mind. I literally stayed up ALL NIGHT to listen to this story. The only criticism that I can say about this truly amazing, wonderful book is that the ending seemed a bit rushed. There was SO MUCH build up and such wonderful things going on and then, it seemed like it ended with a bit of a whimper Seriously though, it is SO worth the credit, SO WORTH IT!!! YES!!!

Being a Girl with Glasses isn't just a style choice; it's a way of life. If you've ever had your specs steam up when walking into a bar, squinted into the sun on the soccer field, or laid eyes on a new haircut only after your locks are strewn across the floor, you know what it's like to be a GWG. Marissa Walsh has worn glasses since third grade. Now - 10 pairs of glasses, one pair of prescription sunglasses, and endless pairs of contacts later - she has fully embraced her four-eyed fate.

This book is cute! I would never have picked it out myself, but Audible had it on a Valentines day free list, so I bit, and I am very pleased that I did. Overall it was a sweet and charming listen. Not bad for a free book. Plus, the author is the exact same age as me, so I felt a kinship as I listened. It did jump around in some strange spots, for instance, I have NO IDEA what ended up happening to her teacher. I figured one of three things happened, 1) I either didn't pay enough attention (it happens),2) my phone didn't download it properly so it missed a section, or 3) the author just expects that you understand what she is getting at without her actually saying it. I am not sure which is the case, but none the less, the book was sweet, quirky and charming. You could definitely do worse!

I really enjoyed this. At first I thought I might not, but it took a wonderfully sweet turn fairly early on and it had me wrapped from then on. I consider it a good book if I drive a little further or clean a little more because I am wrapped up in it. This one hit the mark! A sassy heroine and a flawed but essentially SWEET Hero!

    Story

What could have been a good story is ruined by a whiny self- aggrandized heroine. The plot is very good and the writing is good. The narrator does a great job, but the heroine is just abysmal! She includes herself in the plans of others (Whether they want her there or not) and then whines about it for the first 1/2 of the book. After she finally gets to Blackmoore, the story gets MUCH better and the romance and sacrifice become exident. That being said, the Mother is just a little TOO much to be believable.
It is a good book once you get past the whining and the childish behavior. I actually loved it in the end, but you have to get through the first 1/2 to get there. It isn't bad if you find it on sale.

Joyland is a brand-new novel and has never previously been published.

While this book is not the "scary" Stephen King we have come to expect, it does has a ghost and a wonderful mystery. There is an amazing main character. What does it say about a writer when you strive in your life to be more like the main character in his book? I totally am trying to be more like Devin as he is a truly great guy!

This book spans friendships and life as a carnie and having worked at several theme parks, he is right on about a lot of it. This book took place when I was VERY young, and the detail is there, as we have come to expect with a King book.

Again I say it is not a typical King, but it is a very very good story and I was hooked quickly! It is really in touch with a coming into manhood teenaged boy in the 1970's. Bravo Mr. King, BRAVO! Loved it!
