New York Times best-selling author Diane Mott Davidson has taken readers by storm with clever mysteries filled with tantalizing plots and mouthwatering recipes. In her 12th novel, her tastiest tale yet, the ingenious storyteller whips up a rich soufflé of murder and mischief.

I really WANT to give a higher rating to this book, but I cannot in good faith. I LOVE this series of books, but will read the rest IN PRINT, because the narrator almost ruined the series for me forever. She sounded so much older than I pictured Goldy to be and had an awful voice, that of a heavy, hacking smoker. (I had always pictured Goldy to be a bubbly, vivacious, Bette Midler type of gal, but not with this reader! And, yes, the slurping, sucking sounds made throughout the reading sidetracked me and annoyed me to where I almost stopped listening. Terrible narrator. Fix that and I may listen to future ones...

As for the tale, I normally find them action packed...this one was a bit "slow" in action...

For 10 summers, the extended Seton family met at their country home in New Hampshire to spend a week together playing tennis, badminton, and golf, and drinking gin and tonic on the homestead porch to celebrate the end of the season. But during the 11th summer, everything changes.

This book started off real slow, but got better after 1 - 2 hours... I am glad I hung in there, it was pretty good. A little too much detail in some spots, but overall a great "read".

It is 1998, the year in which America is whipped into a frenzy of prurience by the impeachment of a president, and in a small New England town, an aging classics professor, Coleman Silk, is forced to retire when his colleagues decree that he is a racist. The charge is a lie, but the real truth about Silk would have astonished his most virulent accuser. Browse other Philip Roth on audible.com.

It was SO boring. I suffered through 2 hours and finally trashed it. I wasted my Listener credit on this one. Too much flowery description - no plot that I could find!

Andrea Sachs, a small-town girl fresh out of college, is hired as the assistant to Miranda Priestly, the successful editor of Runway magazine. Andrea finds herself in an office that shouts Prada! Armani! Versace! at every turn. As things escalate from the merely unacceptable to the downright outrageous, Andrea begins to realize that the job a million girls would die for may just kill her. And even if she survives, she has to decide whether the job is worth the price of her soul.

This was a fun, light "read". I loved the narrator's/Andrea's wit and sarcasm towards her boss! Don't do the abridged, listen to the long version! Makes my past "bad" bosses look good!

Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six. They were married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry was thirty-one. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future.

    Overall

I was skeptical about downloading this book, because I have never been a sci-fi fan. I am glad that I followed everyone's previous ratings because I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this audiobook. It took an hour or two to get used to the constant switches back and forth, but then I found myself supposing what switches the author might make next...! Highly recommend. If you want something other than run-of-the-mill, try this very original work!
