Mystery writer and dabbling recreational sleuth Sophie Katz is head over heels in love--with a three-bedroom Victorian. She's just got to have it, despite a few drawbacks. Her slimy ex is the Realtor. The rich, creepy seller wants her to join San Francisco's spirited Specter Society. And her first tour of the house reveals, well, a lifeless body clutching a cameo with a disturbing history of its own.

I always look forward to the Sophie Katz series. These are such fun stories! Great characters, all with different personalities that make you love them, or want to strangle them. Hilarious situations when they come together, and often clash with each other. I love everything about these books. I can't wait til the next one comes out!

Book Two in the madcap time-travel series based at the St Mary's Institute of Historical Research that seems to be everyone's cup of tea. In the second book in the Chronicles of St Mary's series, Max and the team visit Victorian London in search of Jack the Ripper, witness the murder of Archbishop Thomas A Becket in Canterbury Cathedral, and discover that dodos make a grockling noise when eating cucumber sandwiches.

There is something compelling about this series. The British charm mixed with the action of time travel. I find it hard to describe how this series has captured my imagination. I can only say that in 2 weeks, I have listened to the first 2 books 3 times each in marathon sessions. I can't put them down! Absolutely fascinating.

Behind the seemingly innocuous façade of St Mary's, a different kind of historical research is taking place. They don't do 'time-travel' - they 'investigate major historical events in contemporary time'. Maintaining the appearance of harmless eccentrics is not always within their power - especially given their propensity for causing loud explosions when things get too quiet. Meet the disaster-magnets of St Mary's Institute of Historical Research as they ricochet around History.

I'm always looking for new authors and book series. I bought this book because I absolutely loved Luke Daniels in the Iron Druid Chronicles. This book turned out to be a huge disappointment. At the halfway point, the story still couldn't keep my attention and I didn't care about any of the characters or what might happen next. I have absolutely no interest in finishing the book and will be asking for a refund.

I didn't like the 2nd story, 'Dahlia Underground' and the 4th story 'Death by Dahlia'. I kept looking at the summery on Audible because I couldn't believe that those stories were written by Charlaine Harris. I was equally put off with the narrators for both stories. The way they talk is very distracting and keeps you from being able to lose yourself in the plots. The first story was good, but I really loved the 3rd story, 'Two Blondes' and the last one 'If I had a Hammer' Amanda Ronconi's narration definitely adds to the appeal. Over all I think this makes it worth purchasing.

I am seriously overweight and have always had trouble anytime I have tried to diet and lose weight. I began listening to this audio everyday 2 weeks ago and I've been having remarkable results. I have started to experience an urge to exercise, when I have never liked to in the past. It's been a lot easier for me to eat less at meal times too. I even avoid desserts and snacking between meals without giving it a second thought. All in all, I would have to say that this has been an awesome audiobook that has made getting into the mode of healthy living and eating so much easier. I highly recommend this to anyone who is having trouble with weight loss and needs that extra push.

I have bought all the audiobooks in the Sophie Katz series and I've loved them all except this one. The first 5 books I only bought through Audible. This book, I first bought on Amazon for my kindle because it wasn't available in audio format. I had not been overly impressed with the book, but I thought it was because I really loved Gabra Zackman's performances of all the characters. I just recently purchased and listened to this audiobook, and I couldn't even get more than an hour in before I just shut it off. The problem is the story is very slow and lacks most of the laugh out loud moments I loved. This particular performance by Gabra is equally bad. None of the characters sound right. They all seem to lack the personalities and voice inflections I've gotten used to. The main character, Sophie, just comes off as whiney. It's hard to know if these problems are due to the changes in editing and publication, or if this series has just reached the end. I don't believe I will be buying anymore though.

Nola Leary would have been content to stay in Kilcairy, Ireland, healing villagers at her family’s clinic with a mix of magic and modern medicine. But a series of ill-timed omens and a deathbed promise to her grandmother have sent her on a quest to Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky, to secure her family’s magical potency for the next generation. Her supernatural task? To unearth four artifacts hidden by her grandfather before a rival magical family beats her to it. Complication One: The artifacts are lost somewhere in vampire Jane Jameson’s occult bookshop. Complication Two: Her new neighbor, Jed Trudeau, keeps turning up half-naked at the strangest times....

I really miss the laugh-out-loud humor of the Jane Jamison series and the story 'And One Last Thing'. Those stories made me laugh so hard at times that I'd cry. And every time I listened to them, it would be like visiting old friends. That was why I started buying every audio book by Molly Harper. Lately though, the stories are slipping into mediocrity. The just don't have that same spark that set them apart anymore. I hope this is temporary because I miss the old Molly Harper magic.

I had enjoyed the first book in this series, but I found that this second book was harder to get through, and a lot less believable. The main character, Alissa, ruins the story with her childish, immature behavior. She refuses to listen to anyone else, and then seems shocked when her bad behavior results in making bad situations worse. I've seen toddlers behave with more self control that this character has. I found her to be very unlikable in this book. Some of the scenes in this book were not very believable either. Without spoiling the story, I would have to say that one character's lack of response to a life and death issue simply because he didn't want to mess up his room is a shockingly amature twist in a storyline. Even Marguerite's fantastic narration couldn't save this story. Needless to say, I won't be buying anymore of the books in this series.

I bought this book because I absolutely love all of the books in the Jane Jamison series by Molly Harper, and I was really hoping to find more authors I would like. I hated the first story by Katie MacAlister. I kept listening and waiting to start liking it, but the characters are awful. I can't figure out if it's the story or the narrator that ruined it for me. I loved Molly Harper's story, which I knew I would. I found that I really liked the third story, Out With a Fang by Jessica Simms and I'm looking forward to buying one of her full length stories. I would recommend this book for the second & third stories only.
