A reluctant voyager crossing the Pacific in 1850; a disinherited composer blagging a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium; a high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan's California; a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors; a genetically modified "dinery server" on death-row; and Zachry, a young Pacific Islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilisation: the narrators of Cloud Atlas hear each other's echoes down the corridor of history.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I'm not sure who would enjoy this, I'm sure some did, I couldn't find the characters likable nor could I relate to them.

Has Cloud Atlas turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I love the genre, just not this book.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    This book was wonderfully performed.

What character would you cut from Cloud Atlas?

    I didn't get through it, so I don't know

A belief in free will touches nearly everything that human beings value. It is difficult to think about law, politics, religion, public policy, intimate relationships, morality—as well as feelings of remorse or personal achievement—without first imagining that every person is the true source of his or her thoughts and actions. And yet the facts tell us that free will is an illusion.

It is well thought out premise. We did not choose our genetics nor our experiences, nor can we control out thoughts or perceptions, so how can our next actions be of our own choosing when our actions are based on who we've become at that moment.

Loved the book, all ready listened to it twice and working on my third.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

A great listen. The books I've listened to since pale by comparison. Stephen King is the master of both nuance and detail. The year 1963 is painted so vividly, the characters are so thoroughly developed. It's a book about changing events, but it is also a timeless love story. One of favorite books of all time.

In 1988, 43-year-old Jeff Winston died of a heart attack. But then he awoke, and it was 1963; Jeff was 18 all over again, his memory of the next two decades intact. This time around, Jeff would gain all the power and wealth he never had before. This time around he'd know how to do it right. Until next time.

Would you listen to Replay again? Why?

I rarely listen to anything twice, but I might this one.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Replay?

There were many moments. It's like Groundhog's day, but for 25 years.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    The re-meeting of his wife...

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I like how the reflection of events and how the character's learn what's truly was meaningful in each of their lives.

    Any additional comments?

If you like time travel books, this is worth your time. Moves along well, good narration and makes you think. Well done.

A milestone of storytelling set in the world of The Sword of Truth, Debt of Bones is the story of young Abby's struggle to win the aid of the wizard Zedd Zorander, the most important man alive. Abby is trapped, not only between both sides of the war, but in a mortal conflict between two powerful men. For Zedd, who commands power most men can only imagine, granting Abby's request would mean forsaking his sacred duty. With the storm of the final battle about to save the life of a child....

What would have made Debt of Bones better?

This book is a prequel that has very little to no value to the overall Richard and Kalin story. I wish I had my credit back...

Grammy Nominee for Best Spoken Comedy Album
Once again there's good news for those of us who rage at the evening news, shake our heads at Washington's business-as-usual, or watch as politicians carom helplessly between political crises and sex scandals: Dennis Miller is back performing his fourth installment of hilarious observations, I Rant, Therefore I Am. More from Miller.

    zephyr451 says: "Too many rants..."
"Miller's act is as thin as his hair"
    Overall

Dennis Miller has lost touch and this book must been the beginning of his downfall. Its simply not funny. I was hoping for a couple of laughs and got maybe 3; I was looking for insights and got none. Don't waste your time. There's a reason he's not on TV anymore; he has nothing original to say.
