"Narrator Makes This Story"
As someone who has read The Hobbit many times, it was a pleasure to be able to hear it while on long drives. My elementary-age son enjoyed it immensely. He has difficulty keeping engaged in things (ADHD) although reads short paragraphs at a high level. At first, he seemed as if he wasn't paying attention, but as the action rose, he started to ask me questions. This was great for both of us: I got to listen to good literature I'd previously enjoyed; he delved into something he previously would have ignored in print.
Lord of the Rings, of course. Except a bit easier for young ones.
The narrator was fantastic. He quickly and with great skill switched from voice to voice. His singing was superb. I, frankly, never read the songs all the way through in the print version. I actually heard their meaning this time.
No, we intentionally used in the car over several days.
