For the three years Shadow spent in prison, all he wanted was to get back to the loving arms of his wife and stay out of trouble for the rest of his life. But days before his release, he learns that his wife has been killed in an accident, and his world becomes a colder place.

Joseph says: "Amazing, powerful book about America."
    "It wasn't what I expected"
    Overall

I thought "Gods" was going to be metaphorical and not literal. The short publisher's summary blurb breifly mentions "myth" but there is a lot of mythology in the book of both ancient and modern gods. Aside from it not being what I thought it would be, it also took too long to reach the climatic ending. If you are really into fantasy and mythology stories you might like this book. Otherwise, I thought it was not that great.

Michelle Maxwell has just blown her future with the Secret Service. Against her instincts, she let a presidential candidate out of her sight to comfort a grieving widow. Then, behind closed doors, the politician whose safety was her responsibility vanished into thin air.

    "not a bad read"

If you want a good "page turner" this book will deliver. I have read other Baldacci before and as such, I was able to discern who the bad guys were going to be. Of course that is where the fun is in reading a whodunit; making your own deductions and being validated in the end. The final motives of the bad guy(s) were a bit thin but it still had plausability. Like me, if you had enjoyed other Baldacci you will like this too.
