I love JLB's books read by Patton. Tried this one since it was on sale. The pace of the narration totally distracts from the story. It is so bad, I have no idea what the story is even about. Hammer makes every character sound like the same on.
If you like JLB, read them if they are narrated by this guy.
Or any other of Maberry's other short stories, then most stories in this book have already been published.
I listened to the Missing Files book, and read 2 others from Amazon, so only one story was new to me.
If you haven't already listened to Joe Ledger, Missing Files, then this a great addition to the Ledger series.
Just a heads up.
I don't have the writing skills to review this series like others do.
So if anyone is looking for a great action packed series, this it.
There is not one bit of lag in it.
And I love the way Larry rewrites history.
My favorite character is Faye of course.
I love the way Bronson reads and brings out her humor. She is so smart even tho she had no formal schooling.
Bronson does an amazing job with the different voices.
Get this series if you want to be entertained.
I have now relisten to this series 4 times.
I could not follow all the twists in this story.
The writing seems way off of other books.
I love Audible's customer service and being able to return books.
Audible customer for over 10 yrs for this reason.
As many have written, Terry repeats the story line time after time. As if we haven't read any of the previous books.
Also, the narrator. If publishers decide to change narrators, they should make them listen to the previous ones to get not only the names correct, but also the way they speak.
Collin, Callin, Cora, ect.
Plus, we all know by know by now that Kahlen only needs to touch a person and unleash her power. I do not need to hear that time is hers for 2 minutes.
Nor do I need to know the ring the Sword makes or the power and magic behind it.
Now to the glaring plot hole.
Their wedding. It was obvious that it was threatened to happen. So, they should have just gotten married. Yes, I know it would ruin the whole plot, but I hate plot holes.
And poor Richard and his insecurity.
We went through that in SOTs. But he knows Kahlen loves him, but he constantly gets his feelings hurt.
Plus Jagang's sexual appetities read like porn. The violence I understand, explains what the Order stands for.
But the treatment of the women reeks of misogyny.
Other then these things, I would give it a 5.
Things are starting to come together to who is behind the Grey Council.
It will be interesting to see what the outcome of the ending will be.
I think this series is sadly ending but hope I am wrong.
Marsters was again the best Harry ever.
I do not care for the humor that takes away from the story.
I am on part 2 and it is is boring.
I wouldn't recommend this series to anyone.
This one is just as good as all the others. Vampires, Zombies, what will come next?
Ray Porter is an excellent narrator. One thing I like about his readings, is the way he brings out the sarcastic or funny things Joe says. I think I would miss that if I read the book.
The first story was in the book Patient Zero. What I would have like to have seen fleshed out, was the hundreds of missing people story. Who were they? How were so many abducted without their being a huge story about it? I really hate plot holes.
2nd story was pretty good.
It was good to hear Ray's voice again, but don't waste a credit on this. Just buy it.
I rarely write reviews, but this book is absolutely incredible. I listened to it in 2 days, the did it again to really get what was going on.
I found myself stopping it and trying to imagine what Joe and his men had to do and the incredible amount of bodies left in their wake.
I found myself doing this with the Stand, trying to imagine Freeways, tunnels, ect totally blocked by cars and dead people.
The only complaint I have is during the epilogue. I wish he had mentioned something about all the missing people. There must have been thousands of families looking for them.
Other then that, no complaints at all. No drag points.
The narrator is perfect.
I read all the reviews before I buy a book, and I have bought many that people rave about, only to be disappointed.
Get it. You will not be disappointed.
Now, I am off to the 2nd book.
I have tried to listen to this story 3 times now and it does nothing for me.
I feel nothing for the characters and have no idea where it is going.
I have listened to the Mistborn series 3 times now.
I was drawn in immediately.
The narrator were awesome though
