Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

"Funny, Serious Fiction that reflects Truth"
    Overall

I am originally from Mississippi and lived there for more than 31 years. This book reflects a lot of truth about the past Mississippi and somewhat reflects the truth about the current life in the USA for many Blacks. Yes some Blacks have become rich and many have entered the Middle class but are still harassed by the Police, pre-judged, receive harsh jail sentences for small crimes, under employed with college educations (I know and know of too many to count) and the list goes on. Mississippi has changed a lot since the times reflected in this book but it has a long, long way to go. Both Blacks and Whites need to change and unite.
