At her newest project, a run-down Pacific Heights mansion, Mel is visited by the ghost of a colleague who recently met a bad end with power tools. Mel hopes that by nailing the killer, she can rid herself of the ghostly presence of the murdered man - and not end up a construction casualty herself....

Neal Carey is not your usual private eye. A graduate student at Columbia University, he grew up on the streets of New York, usually on the wrong side of the law. Then he met a P.I. who introduced him to the Bank, an exclusive institution with a sideline in keeping its wealthy clients happy and out of trouble. They pay Neal's college tuition, and Neal gets an education that can't be found in any textbook, from learning how to trail a suspect to mastering the proper way to search a room. Now it's payback time.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

It is different. I finished it. The ending was okay. I would recommend it if it was on sale for sure.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was a realistic ending, not happy or sad.

What aspect of Joe Barrett’s performance would you have changed?

    He did a good job.

Could you see A Cool Breeze on the Underground being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Maybe a series. I did fast forward a few times when it was very predictable.

    Any additional comments?

Most of the book was about when he was young. It is about his training to be a private eye starting when he was in grade school. The middle was cat and mouse. The end is tidied up in the last bit of the book.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Probably. Not sure. It was unusual. The book was a mystery with little information but, you keep listening. The characters and dialog work somehow. This was my most confused review.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I didn't like it. But I plan on buying the next book, so go figure.

What about Gabriel Vaughan and Piper Goodeve ’s performance did you like?

I liked hers better but he was good too. They are convincing.

Do you think Secrets needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Well the book ends on a cliffhanger. If I knew that I might not have bought it. I like a satisfying or real end, even if it is a series.

    Any additional comments?

This one was hard to rate. I liked it but didn't love it. I will buy the next book to get to the ending......

Where does Rapture in Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I am new to find J.D. Robb, Nora Roberts. You can find them a reliable source of entertainment, most the time. This series so far has been great. I couldn't wait to start and when I finished, I couldn't wait to start the next book. It is a murder mystery with romance incorporated in. The side characters are likable too.

What other book might you compare Rapture in Death to and why?

It reminds me of Catherine Coulter's split second.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Dallas and Rorke are up to no good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    The title covers it.

    Any additional comments?

I would recommend it, you can't go wrong.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! It was fun, great characters, supernatural, mystery and romance. After listening to several books that were not satisfying for one reason or another, this was refreshing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Trouble in Mudbug?

When Luke sees the mother in law too. I am just throwing it out there because a good story that flows it is hard to have a moment. When a story is terrible there are moments. ( I hate this question, sometime I change stars to avoid this question!!)

    Which scene was your favorite?

This is almost the same question as above, who thinks of these? ( I hate this question, sometime I change stars to avoid this question!!)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and did. I think when I listen to several bad books I will listen to this one again.

    Any additional comments?

The story had a good pace, the narrator was excellent, the characters were well developed and the ones you wanted to know more about you will. At the end of the book they give you a chapter of the next, brilliant!!!! I think you will not be disapointed.

Welcome to a world of reckless sensuality and glittering sophistication, of dangerously handsome gentlemen and young ladies longing to gain a title, of games played for high stakes, including - on occasion - a lady's virtue. A marquess's sheltered only daughter, Lady Roberta St. Giles, falls in love with a man she glimpses across a crowded ballroom: a duke, a game player of consummate skill, a notorious rakehell who shows no interest in marriage, until he lays eyes on Roberta.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Too much to.... The whole book was how everyone was sleeping with everyone but there were boundaries by class. That sums up the story and the intensity. It was a farce. It made me think if this gets published maybe I should write. This is my 30th book and I have never been so harsh.

If you’ve listened to books by Eloisa James before, how does this one compare?

I listened to another, it was better.

What three words best describe Rosalyn Landor’s performance?

Okay, not great. It was hard to distinguish the voices, characters. It really detracted from the story.

Did Desperate Duchesses inspire you to do anything?

No. It was hard to get through the entire book. The very last bit, less than a chapter was good when she was with her love. I would not recommend it.

What made the experience of listening to Private the most enjoyable?

It had a few story lines at once. There were a few mysteries running at once between friends, families and lovers.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, you had to really listen and follow. The pace was quick. You really had to keep track of the characters, there were quit a few that were important to the story.

Which character – as performed by Peter Hermann – was your favorite?

He did Jack the best. He was very good I would seek him out.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The story had many side plots going on and they were interesting and well done, Jack's love life was disappointing from a to z. He was noble everywhere but his relationship with women. I would think most women can deal with failed work, friend relationships but at the end a hopeful romance is in order.

If you have seen Ray Donavan, that is almost the same as this.

Would you listen to Deadly Night again? Why?

Yes, the pace was pretty fast. There were nuances that were missed the first time so I would listen again. I liked the characters they were interesting and you want to know more. The story was well developed and characters. It was a good flow and the whole was well done.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The two main characters. The side characters were interesting and could be developed more if there were another book.

What does Phil Gigante bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He did very well. I have found that women do men and women voices very well and few men can do both, he did well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes and did.

    Any additional comments?

This story was very well done. There were so many threads, history, ghosts, friends, serial killer, and a love story. Yes, I enjoyed this.

What did you like best about Faces of the Gone? What did you like least?

The humor was the best. The thing I liked least was, if the people that you mention in your articles die after you mention them, take note. the first few people you get killed is questionable but after that you are a murderer. When he mentions the name of a drug informant to the guy that he thinks is the mastermind drug king who kills with out hesitation ..........

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    Satisfying

Which character – as performed by MacLeod Andrews – was your favorite?

The main character, however he does the side characters well. Tina was a great character, the intern, and the prostitute was endearing.

Could you see Faces of the Gone being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes, I don't know. Not any of the actors out now. Someone not too good looking.

Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. What was one of the most memorable moments of Gone Girl?

    When Amy gets real.

Have you listened to any of Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. They did a very good job.

The ending made me feel disgusted, not predictable though.
The character Go, was very likable. A great twist would be if she was the killer at the very end.
