It is in the top 25%. Mainly because the setting is so relevant to me as a theme park junkie.
You can't compare this book to the Dark Side of Disney. One is a travelogue (so to speak) and this is fiction.
There is a reason she is called "Snow" White and it ain't her purity.
Kinsey uses his breadth of Disney theme park knowledge and did something unique by setting a modern day adult fairy tale at a place that has so much meaning to so many of us. He mostly succeeded. There were times in the book where I wanted some more back story. In my opinion, the best part of the book was the beginning and the end. Very powerful on both fronts.
I have waited a long time for the Camulod Chronicles to get on Audible. I was furious that these were supposed to be released in early June, then on the day of release without any explanation , the release date was switched to August 20. I looked everywhere for a reason and there was nothing on any of Jack's or Audible's fan sites. I guess it will be a mystery forever. It also took a ridiculous amount of time to get them released on the kindle.
This is one of those rare books that is served well in audio format. I actually liked the audio performance better than the reading the book. Kevin Pariseau does an admirable job with the different characters. I look forward to hearing the Eagles Brood
Nope. Not that kind of book. Once is plenty.
Written in a very Edward Lee style. Flesh Gothic springs to mind.
The narrator was the worse part for me. He was too old for the book. It needed a younger narrator. I like Nick Podehl for this. He read The Beginning of the End: Apocalypse Z and had a great voice for a young man.
I like Bryan Smith. I appreciate that he always writes as an East Tennessean which I am as well. This wasnt one of my favorites by him. The freakshow holds that title
Yes. The author really knows his own life better than anyone so he adds emphasis where he needs to easily
Rolly Crump's new bio from Bamboo Forest Publishing. Another unique look from an insider
His periodic outbreak into the Dreamfinders Voice! A blast from my past! I got to meet the Dreamfinder once when I was a kid. He and Figment were awesome!
Epcot: a Dream from the 80s turned into total crap by a company I love in the 2000s. or
Epcot: How one company destroyed something totally cool for no good reason.
Disney: Destroying Epcot one Future World building at a time
Epcot: Where in the hell is Horizons?
Epcot: Where in the hell is Wonders of Life?
Epcot: Where in the hell is World of Motion?
Epcot: Why are there animated fish in Sea Base Alpha?
Epcot: Out of all the Future world destroyed, why does the sucky World of Energy still exist????
Epcot: WHAT CRACK HEAD THOUGHT IT WAS OK TO TURN IMAGINATION INTO THE COMPLETE AND TOTAL PILE OF JUNK IT IS NOW?????????
Ok that should do it. Should be some great movies.
I wish he was still Dreamfinder and still at Epcot. He was awesome. I am really furious what Disney has done to Epcot and particularly Future World. I proposed to my wife on freaking Horizons for goodness sakes. Happily married for many years, we miss that building terribly. They built a glorified zoo with Animal Kingdom and its just ok, Not much to draw people to it. They have abandoned Epcot like River Country. Its like a shell of it former self. Disney has done well with the Magic Kingdom. Fantasyland is great. Cars Land at DCA is a masterpiece. My problem with them is that this all feels reactive rather than pro-active. If I was Disney, I would build a 5th gate with Star Wars immediately and make people remember that they are the 800 pound gorilla in the game.
in the top 3 for sure.
The obvious comparison is Stephan King's classic, The Stand but I like this book better
Josh was the best performed although the creepy pedophile in the airstream was also well done
The beautiful moment when Swan's horrible disfigurement was cured and hope was restored to the land
I listen to audible constantly and I have to say that this narrator was the best I have ever heard. He managed to make every character believable and different with assorted accents that never strayed. He was a perfect choice
