Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

What made the experience of listening to Dark Places the most enjoyable?

The twists and turns of the story were for sure keeping me interested - Also, the layout was great.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely, There were about 4 separate times when I was SURE I knew what had happened 'that night'. But I turned out to be wrong on all counts!

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not - but the different voices for the different chapters/characters was great.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was very surprised - the plot was great.

    Any additional comments?

This was a book I downloaded 100% based on the reviews - this book was great!
The story has great elements to it and very easy to follow. If I was physically reading it, I'm not sure if I would have held on, but the narrators were great.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

One of my top 5 books is 'Dark Places' by Gillian Flynn. So by reading reviews and getting a recommendations, I decided to take a chance. Oh man, am I so very glad I did

I very much enjoy the Gillian takes the time in her books for you to know what each person involved is experiencing. Though this novel does take a turn with this format - it keeps you interested and can't wait to see what happens next.

The build up and explanation of Nick and Amy are done very, very well. The different parts of this story dig you deeper into what they are thinking and how they respond to each other.

I will admit that I'm not the best at writing reviews, all I ever want to do is 'Just give it a chance' because I don't want to give anything away. But honestly, take the time! This book deserves any and all rewards it's received. Though I have listened to it on audio - I will be going out and purchasing this book - just so I can borrow it out to people so they can experience it as well.

It’s hard to live happily ever after when you discover your demanding and controlling mother-in-law is literally a witch, determined to steal the magical powers you didn’t even know you had. Jane narrowly avoided Lynne Doran’s clutches when she escaped on her wedding day, and has been hiding out in New York City. But she can’t hide forever. When Jane learns of the one thing Lynne wants most, she sets out to provide it, hoping her good turn will persuade her mother-in-law to stop hunting her.

Where does The Dark Glamour rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is actually the first series that I have ever listened to .. ever! So far it's great

What other book might you compare The Dark Glamour to and why?

This ranks with the first of this series - that story is very well written

    Which scene was your favorite?

I very much enjoyed when Jane was beginning to have some 'power' over her past family - loved to finally see her 'win'.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I listen in my car and there were for sure a few - 'Ohh' .. 'No way!' 's that came out

    Any additional comments?

If you are looking to read the books because of the show - you will be very surprised!
The book and show are VERY different. This is why I began listening and was a bit shocked by the HUGE differences, but the story is very good and I enjoy both. Very sad the show is being cancelled - I feel like they could have brought both together.
