Since 1990, when Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time® burst on the world with its first book, The Eye of the World, listeners have been anticipating the final scenes of this extraordinary saga, which has sold over 40 million copies in over 32 languages. When Robert Jordan died in 2007, all feared that these concluding scenes would never be written. But working from notes and partials left by Jordan, established fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson stepped in to complete the masterwork.

Amazon Customer says: "End of one of my favorite fantasy series ever."

Contrary to the naysayers who have envisioned this book for 20+ years in their mind's eye, A Memory of Light is here and it brings an Ending to Jordan's saga--a tale that grew in the telling, as all would agree. And while the series has meandered through plot lines and characters, all converge for at the Last Battle at the ending of the Third Age--a conflict as expansive as one would expect from The Wheel of Time. Sanderson hit a pitch-perfect tone throughout, and Reading and Kramer provide their perfect narration, and as you listen to the last minutes of the series, I defy you not to be moved by the ending of this staggering and important series.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

This is the start of something truly epic. Sanderson's sweeping novel doesn't really flare from page 1, but it certainly pays off by the last page. I'll be rereading this one again before the second volume arrives.

Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds.Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history—or religion. Yet the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world....

If you could sum up The Alloy of Law in three words, what would they be?

    Cool, Cosmere, Steampunk

Who was your favorite character and why?

Both main characters are worthy additions to the Mistborn universe.

    Which scene was your favorite?

This book is rich with great scenes.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not especially, this is more of a fun listen. A return to a known magic and a known universe.

    Any additional comments?

I hope Sanderson writes more with these characters, there are some large open-ended questions on the table!

An author whose previous, wildly successful novels have earned him a reputation as fantasy's master of magic, Brandon Sanderson continues to dazzle audiences with this tale of princesses and gods. In this extraordinary world, those who attain glory return as gods. And those who can master the essence known as breath can perform the most wondrous miracles - or unleash the most devastating havoc.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

If you have already enjoyed the four Mistborn books and The Way of Kings, check this standalone novel out. I've not yet read Elantris so I'm not sure how it stacks up. Warbreaker is a truly inventive and unique fantasy book that dashes many common tropes.

What other book might you compare Warbreaker to and why?

Hmmm...I cannot say I can compare it to a similar book, but it has the feel of a Jim Henson script to me; something vivid, creative, wildly different.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

James Yaegashi is not a good narrator. His narration sucks the life out of these characters and makes them caricatures. However, towards the end of the book I almost enjoyed his overwrought inflections.

Was Warbreaker worth the listening time?

Yes, if you are a fan of Brandon Sanderson you should certainly listen. Warbreaker is another part of his Cosmere.
