Tassaa Bareesh, a matriarch in the Hutt crime cartel, is holding an auction that’s drawing attention from across the galaxy. Representatives of both the Republic and the Sith Empire are present, along with a Jedi Padawan sent to investigate, a disenfranchised trooper drummed out of the Republic’s elite Blackstar Squad, and a mysterious Mandalorian with a private agenda.

I have been a fan of the Star Wars as long as I can remember but this book just never caught my interest. The characters were flat and forgetable. The plot was pretty thin as well.

For Durzo Blint, assassination is an art---and he is the city's most accomplished artist, his talents required from alleyway to courtly boudoir. For Azoth, survival is precarious, something you never take for granted. As a guild rat, he's grown up in the slums and learned to judge people quickly---and to take risks. Risks like apprenticing himself to Durzo Blint. But to be accepted, Azoth must turn his back on his old life and embrace a new identity and name.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The characters are not especially deep and I had trouble following who some of the characters were if they were not the main ones.

Would you recommend The Way of Shadows to your friends? Why or why not?

If you are like me and particularly enjoy bounty hunter and assassin stories. Then you should read it. If not I don't think it is good enough to stand on its own.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I would probably go see it but I am a sucker for this type of character.

  • Ready Player One

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

If you could sum up Ready Player One in three words, what would they be?

    Good Fun Read.

Would you be willing to try another book from Ernest Cline? Why or why not?

I would definitely be willing to try another book by Ernest Cline although I think the reasons I liked Ready Player One may lose their novelty if used again. It was more the setting than the story that brought this book to life for me. If it had not been set in the world of my child hood I am not sure I would have enjoyed it so much. The story itself was a little predictable and cliche.

What does Wil Wheaton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Of course hearing this book read by Wil Wheaton, whose work I also enjoy immensely, it brought an extra special link to the world of Ready Player One.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I have been telling many people about this book. It is definitely the best geek book of the year if not ever.
