Would you listen to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy again? Why?

I listened to each chapter at least twice before proceeding. There is so much going on.

Have you listened to any of Stephen Fry’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He is a master narrator. obvious complete focus and respect for the material.

    Any additional comments?

The best use of Science Fiction. Maximum enjoyment - humor and social commentary, the stupidity, cupidity and ridiculous of human endeavor should never not be exploited for a laugh.

Larry McMurtry's American epic, set in the late 19th century, tells the story of a cattle drive from Texas to Montana, a drive that represents not only a daring foolhardy adventure, but a part of the American Dream for everyone involved.

What did you like best about this story?

I was very surprised at the amount of violence and moral darkness the characters encountered. I guess I was expecting a Hallmark drama but this was so much more satisfying. I had memories of the TV movie from when I was young, but I love westerns so gave this a try. After finishing the book, I went back to watch it and Duvall and Jones are just smackdown perfect, Duvall in particular. His Augustus is effing amazing. Horsely get's Augustus down pretty well too and brings a deep respect and full voice to the characters. This is a great story, a great Western, and well read.

What does Roy Dotrice bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A perfectly pitched gravelly piano of tones. Like Tom Waits meets Santa Claus meets Richard Burton

I'm tiring a bit of the material. RR Martin is on a high level but sometimes too one note. Spread these books out for maximum enjoyment!
