After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: his sister, the legendary supermodel Lula Landry, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.

I was looking for a new book to listen to on my drives and, as luck would have it, this was the first book I investigated. I bought it because of the reviews and because I liked Harry Potter. I was not disappointed. Very good read. I found myself losing interest in the middle somewhere but the story sucked me back in soon after that, as Strike started piecing together all the clues and witness testimonies. Listened to the last half or so in one sitting, I was so enthralled. Good read. I give it 5 stars.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

I highly recommend this book. Orson Scott Card does an amazing job at making the reader love his characters. Say what you will about the author, he writes an amazing story. After Ender's Game you should also listen to Ender's Shadow. It complements Ender's Game perfectly and adds an entirely new perspective to Ender's story.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I'm not a huge fan of the narrator. It's not that he does a bad job. I just don't like his voice. But that could just be me.

    Any additional comments?

Solid read. Like I said, fans of the comic will enjoy this. It ties in very nicely.
