  • 6 Rainier Drive: Cedar Cove #6

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 18 mins)
    • By Debbie Macomber
    • Narrated By Andrea Gallo

In 6 Rainier Drive listeners are whisked away to Cedar Cove, Washington, where Justine and Seth Gunderson are feeling the shock of the arson that destroyed their restaurant. They're eager to move on, but divided over which direction to take.

Amazon Customer says: "An Excellent Romance/Family Drama"
    "don't like the different narrator"
Where does 6 Rainier Drive rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    I really enjoy this series.

What didn’t you like about Andrea Gallo’s performance?

way too different to the narrator for all the other books

when a narrator is taking over from another narrator in a series. Surely they could make some effort to listen to previous recordings and get the characters a little closer to the originals.

  • The Hunt for Red October

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By Tom Clancy
    • Narrated By J. Charles
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

A deadly serious game of hide-and-seek is on. The CIA's brilliant young analyst, Jack Ryan, thinks he knows the reason for the sudden Red Fleet operation: the Soviets' most valuable ship, the Red October, is attempting to defect to the United States.

Christian says: "Audio quality quite poor"
    "Terrible Narrator"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I love Tom Clancy, but hate it when a narrator clearly doesn't bother to listen to other books in the series or know anything about characters. Aside from not honouring the nationality or ethnicity of several key characters, this man's character voices would still have bothered me. I personally will never again buy a book narrated by J Charles.

What other book might you compare The Hunt for Red October to and why?

all other Tom Clancy/ Jack Ryan books

Would you be willing to try another one of J. Charles’s performances?

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Yes, it is well written, just wrecked by a terrible narrator

    Any additional comments?

very disappointing and very hard to listen to what is essentially a great book.

  • Rainbow Six

    • ABRIDGED (5 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By Tom Clancy
    • Narrated By David Dukes

Tom Clancy's most shocking story to date - and closer to reality than any government would care to admit. John Clark, newly named head of an international task force dedicated to combating terrorism, faces a terrorist group so extreme that their success could literally mean the end of life on this earth as we know it.

Benjamin says: "GREAT BOOK! (the narrator isn't that bad)"
    "hideous narrator"

love the book. but found it extremely hard to listen to due to the hideous narration. I would have expected that when a book is part of a series with common characters that a narrator would at least listen to other books or see the movies with the characters so that there is at least a little consistency in how the characters are portrayed. Charvez was extremely poorly portrayed and his name even read wrong in the book once that I noticed.

was very disappointed that I had to perserve (several times I was tempted to give up the narration irritated me so much) to listen to this when I have loved all the other books by Tom Clancy in the Jack Ryan series.

  • The Bear and the Dragon

    • ABRIDGED (6 hrs and 3 mins)
    • By Tom Clancy
    • Narrated By Frank Muller

Being President doesn't make things any easier, Jack Ryan finds out, especially when trouble's brewing in Moscow and China. Blending the exceptional realism and authenticity that are his hallmarks with intricate plotting, razor-sharp suspense, and a remarkable cast of characters, this is Clancy at his best - and there is none better.

Anthony says: "Clancy's World is Fun"
    "The Bear and the Dragon"

Really enjoyed the book, didn't like the narrator, not sure how to describe it, other than his idea of inflection which seemed to be by making his voice breathy, was a bit creepy and irritating.
