Crichton writes topical stories that try to make you think about where we (mankind) are going. I really love most of his stories but this one left me a little bored. I kept waiting for the "now that's really cool" kicker but it just never came.

The narrator (Dylan Baker) was uninspired. Every young person character had a "Valley Girl" twang. After a while I couldn't tell them apart.

This is a good story and is good Sci-Fi. You could say the science is dated but heck, we were supposed to have flying cars by now too!

Love Pournelle! He knows his Sci-Fi. Don't listen to people that say he pushes his politics in his stories. Everyone who has EVER told a story includes their own opinions.

I don't like this narrator. Lloyd James reads well but every character sounds the same.

Good story but I could wait until the next day to start listening again.

Yes I would recommend it but with warnings. I hate a story that takes me through 250 pages just to wrap up in 5. Don't take 10hrs to tell a story just to wrap up in the last 15 minutes.

A quick ending just leaves me with the feeling that author asked his teacher

Don't pay attention to the reviews talking about "dated" technology. If that was a point to separate a good story from bad anything over three years old would be a "bad" story.

This story was written 35 years ago. Of course technology has advanced! When a character has a "pocket computer" it's not a smart phone it's a scientific calculator!

The voice talent is not spectacular but good enough.

This is a classic sci-fi story built on solid science.

Cormac McCarthy is an awesome story teller. Richard Poe is absolutely wonderful as the narrator.

Some authors are predictable in that you KNOW certain characters will not end. I cringe (in a good way) when I read McCarthy because he will end any character, anytime. Sometime in the most unthinkable way possible. Other times, nice and neat.

Dark, depressing, and violent. Not for everyone.

What a great story. Stories should be told and passed down through generations. This is one of those that every human in any country in any language can relate to. Hinton tells this story very well. It's about growing up and dealing with some of the problems we all had.
This book should be on the "must read" list for every young person in our country.

If you only had one credit left use it on this story.

Cormac McCarthy is NOT your typical writer. The Road is NOT your typical 3 act play. It is gloomy, depressing, and will leave you flat. But it will make you think.

What would happen if...? How far would mankind fall? How bad would things have to get before we gave up.

Don't start this this story thinking there really is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and you'll "be OK."

The reader, Tom Stechschulte, is very good. He's read other Cormac McCarthy stories to us and in his own slightly peculiar fashion adds buckets of feeling and intensity.

I sat in my truck, in my driveway for 20 minutes after my drive home just to finish this story.

If your looking for a fast paced, "slice and dice", "shoot out at the last planet in the universe" story look else where.

This story, however, is chock full of "the more things change the more they stay the same" predictions.

The reason for The Forever War was somewhat predictable but Haldeman's guesses about how things may change in the years to come are plausible.

The narrator added much to the story. He paced it very well.

What a super story! Put this selection on your Wish List!

If you're a geek you'll like the tech. If you're not a geek but you can spell PC you'll appreciate the tech and like the rest.

The action is really well done. The characters are believable. The government bureaucracy is typical.

Jeff Gurner (narrator) is really very good. Some of his character voices sound a little fake (cartoonish) but still very good. He's a narrator I'll look for in further selections.

Stephen Colbert is very funny. But as with most comedic writers I can only take it in small doses. If you like nonsensical humor grab a listen.

For the most part, this was a good story. Some parts moved slow while other times it just clicked right along.

Most of the plot lines seemed obvious but a couple were "didn't see that coming!"

Other reviewers said they couldn't finish it. By no means would I agree.
