Great stories (more than one here), good character development, unexpected twists, and I - a Navy veteran - was reading this during the time Ben Laden was found. A description in the book must have been right on for how the Navy Seal team exited the helicopters during the raid on Bin Laden's compound. Will I read more of this author? Yep, and did I say the reader could read the newspaper backwards and would be worth listening to?

Perhaps one needs to be a Patterson fan, but I fell for the ads for this book and wish I hadn't. Almost 2 hours into it, I find it slow and not very interesting, though there is an occasional well written passage. Otherwise, some of the long passages when someone explains something the reader needs to know sounds like quoted research by the author. Good description of expectations for career Army wives is good (ask me how I know), but also too long, again, sounds like quoted research. Decided to quit it, but understand it may be for Patterson fans.

I'm a fan of the author, but I believe one cannot write as easily about Texas as one can other places. A small error here and there is not so bad, but when coupled with the occasional pronunciation error of the narrator when trying to sound Texan...I quit the book with a sigh after a little over an hour. This Texan will read the book instead, and forgive the outsider errors because the author is so good.
