Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

Kapila says: "6 titles in the series so far"
    "Contrarian"
    Overall

The book has its moments, but this isn't literature of any stature. Mildly entertaining, in a puerile way.

Which is more dangerous, a gun or a swimming pool? What do schoolteachers and sumo wrestlers have in common? Why do drug dealers still live with their moms? How much do parents really matter? What kind of impact did Roe v. Wade have on violent crime?

Timothy says: "Fascinating book, despite the title."
    "Excellent material, excellent reader"

I'd been thinking about getting this title for a while, but had always been put off by the title. Finally, I did. It has been one of my favorite "reads" ever: provocative, interesting, well written and humorous. Thoroughly satisfying.

May, 1941. At four in the morning, a rust-streaked tramp freighter streams up the Tagus River to dock at the port of Lisbon. She is the Santa Rosa; she flies the flag of neutral Spain and is in Lisbon to load cork oak, tinned sardines, and drums of cooking oil bound for the Baltic port of Malmo.

    "Intelligent, absorbing and superbly read"

This is one of those audiobooks that make you wish there were an unabridged version, and wonder whether you should go out and purchase the book. The best audiobook that I've heard in a long time. The reader deserves special praise for bringing it to life.
