He has stolen her past, but MacKayla will never allow her sister's murderer to take her future. Yet even the uniquely gifted sidhe-seer is no match for the Lord Master, who has unleashed an insatiable sexual craving that consumes Mac's every thought - and thrusts her into the seductive realm of two very dangerous men, both of whom she desires but dares not trust.

    "I miss Joyce Bean"
    Overall

At first I thought Joyce Bean's narration for the first three Fever books to be over the top, but now I miss her. Natalie Ross just doesn't do the characters justice. Her voice for Mac sounds like Peg Bundy from Married with Children rather than a young southern girl. I am, however, happy with Phil Gigante voicing the men...

Otherwise, the book is a good listen, especially if you've read the first three in the series. While cliff hangers abound and the relationships are left in an unsatisfactory state, it is still entertaining. We will all have to wait for the final book to see if the time commitment has been worth it.

  • Sunshine

There are places in the world where darkness rules, where it's unwise to walk. Sunshine knew that. But there hadn't been any trouble out at the lake for years, and she needed a place to be alone for a while. Unfortunately, she wasn't alone. She never heard them coming. Of course you don't, when they're vampires.

    "Something different from McKinley"
    Overall

I've always enjoyed Robin McKinley's work. This is not my favorite, but Sunshine is still a good read (listen). McKinley creates an interesting world and I think she could have easily extended the concept into a series.

The audiobook narration is good. It doesn't detract from the story. The one flaw is the all too monotone voice of Con...a little bit of inflection, if not emotion would have been nice.
